I love "Shogun", I hadn't thought of it until I saw your answer.

Its hard to choose three, and what I identify with changes periodically, but as of now:

    1. "Outlander" ~~Diana Gabaldon
    2. "Shibumi" ~~Trevanian
    3. "Into the Wilderness" ~~Sara Donati

I figured you would be a Diana Galbadon fan. Did you finish all the books? I got through the first three and then got bored with them....maybe part of the fourth...i got bored when they came to the Americas. But man Jamie is the man, isn't he?

LOL... I own them all and have read all of them twice, and Outlander seven times (four was on audio). Having said that, I do agree that the beginning three are the best. I was really losing patience with the last one, "A Breath of Snow and Ashes". Yes, Jamie is definitely my favorite Hero!!

hahaha....well that answers a question I just asked you in a pm. I love when that stuff happens. Did you do any of the others on audio?

    Oh and my three:
    all of Herman Hesse
    and all of Tom Robbins
The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle

this is a hard thing to answer as everything I read touches me deeply in one way or another.

The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brian
The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
The Tooth Fairy by Graham Joyce (utterly brilliant coming of age story too often relegated to "horror" genre)

BTW, I LOVE Shibumi by Trevanian (as well as the Eiger and Loo Sanctions) - I've lost track of how many times I've read it since it was first published.
