Ah well thanks for explaining. How you worded it previously did not make it clear that was all you're saying And I agree, society as a whole is not doing that bad. But I can imagine some people in that society are wary of the new president in exactly that regard. It's not like I think he will take women's rights away just like that, but if you feel you have a point when saying BLM is guilty of spreading faulty ideology you can see how others feel like that with Trump. His words inspires and encourages dumbfucks in the same way you accuse BLM of doing. So yeah, society is taking women's issues very seriously... happily. And this shows through such a protest. Concerned and informed citizens making an effort of standing up for what they believe in (albeit in a slightly different way as you or me would do ). That its mainly a feel good festival (at this point in Trumps presidency) does not really hurt right? Aren't such feel good festivals partly a kind of celebration of our rights and liberties as well?

The signs left on the street were left in front of Trump's hotel.

It was using a "protest" to justify intentional littering. This was not a respectable move at all. But like you say, someone (else) has to clean it up, so I guess it created jobs at least! To me this is just as trite as someone painting an orange toupee on Rushmore to "protest Trump" or someone spitting orange skittles into the Starbuck's cup of of a guy with a MAGA hat on. Too many of these "protests" are jumping the shark in a big way and Americans are weary of all the useless whining and gratuitous violence. It's time for a lot of people to grow the hell up and move on. Same as when Obama was elected. Remember the anti-Obama riots? Neither do I.

There were no riots yesterday either. Protesting isnt the same as rioting. I thought from our conversation the other day that you and I are on the same page about rioters being mostly apolitical assholes looking for an excuse to be destructive

I really dont understand the antagonism or the oft repeated phrases (honestly, at least try to be original) of ' "grow up' and "get over it" and "stop whining"

If you dont support the reason someone is protesting then you can get over it, grow up, and stop whining also. Protesting is a right and I really dont understand the need to put people down for trying to find power and strength in numbers in a country ruled by the few at the top, and for taking to the streets and making real human connections instead of whining and spewing negativity on the internet all day.

This negative attitude towards protesting is just beyond me.

 

Also, I remember plenty of tea party rallies so the idea that there were no protests against Obama is blatantly false.

Maybe it's the way so many "protests" have so quickly spun out of control. But I don't lay that entirely at the feet of the protesters. REAL protesters don't use their cause as an excuse to destroy things and injure people. But once that mayhem begins, what can they possibly say or do? Any effort they might take to turn it back around leaves them open to attack themselves. It becomes a spiral. Specially when the premise for the protest is based on absolute lies, like that mess in Ferguson.

Blocking streets to "protest" is also a very negative way to "raise awareness". But again, I don't put all of the blame onto the actual protesters, they're just a front. I blame the police. Once people start breaking windows and assaulting others, the police should shut it down quickly. Instead they sit around and watch, ever mindful to protect "their own" while letting things in the streets get worse by the minute.

If it's really beyond you, I understand and suggest you ignore me going forward. I'm not likely to change. After all, I'm an "old white man".

 

The tea party was founded on protesting government graft and largess. Obama came into the mix later, as he pushed for more largess. It was never a racial movement, that was a lie from the press.

None of this happened yesterday though. No riots. None. The DC police said they recieved 4 calls related to the protests and they were due to medical reasons.

You're an old white man who always brags about living in CA during the 60s when people were protesting, just like they did yesterday!

 

That's because you look for a sensible reason or motivation why people like him do this. But if you regard it as trolling: to criticize and/or ridicule primarily to annoy those 'libtards' who express that they care about an issue you will get him just fine. Its easy and fun to stir folks who care about stuff in a way you see as trivial. Esp when they wear pussyhats.

It's from an old Woody Allen movie, "Bananas". After a revolution the rebel leader switches instantly into dictator mode. Among the weird list of requirements he makes is that the citizens much change their underwear like 5 or so times a day and to be sure they are complying, it must be worn on the outside. Oh, I liked "Sleeper" a lot better. Someone already made a virtual reality program of Trump and I'm sure the porn industry will take a great interest. He could be the first big star in an "Orgasmitron" with how many people who love to rip him a new one.

 

I never said I was anti-protesting. And I sure didn't say this protest on Saturday descended into riots. But it is clear that only certain women were welcome as opposed to all women. That's really a shame.
