Not trying to justify anything. I'm just pointing out the fact that some people are making judgements on others who they don't know. Maybe the difference is that you are looking at SL on a grander scale than I am. To me it is just a game, like any other. And I already said I know everyone isn't like that. Some people do become fanatics about these things. All I am saying quite simply is that everyone is not that way, I am not that way, and I hate being grouped into a certain category just because I like to play video games. I'm not even an avid gamer, I know some poeople that play 60+ hours a week. That is insane. I doubt I play more than 6-8 hours a week, at my peak, and usually much much less.
It's not the gamer aspect that bothers people, it's the Second Life aspect. Playing such a game doesn't speak highly of one.
Ok Pavel, see, I think we actually are on the same wavelength. I actually agree with you to a certain point. Where we break away from the train of thought is that I don't play it in the way that most people play it. I am not concerned with building up a certain level of popularity, or making virtual money, or having the best avatar, or anything like that. Pfft, I could really care less. I just like to go and hang out for awhile on there and talk to people like we do on here. I am selective of who I communicate with there, just as I am on here. I generally don't socialize with the types of people that you are describing in your posts, either in real life, or in the virtual world.
To each his own i played paintball on xbox for about 8 hours today. i played for real last Sat. and got some wicked war scars to prove it.
I take back what I said about video games. I played Guitar Hero III all day yesterday. I'm a hypocrite.
I've lost my ability to really get into video games anymore. Happened in the past few years. When I was a kid I could. But now it's like 20 minutes or so then I can't anymore.
