you should start washing it now with a residue free shampoo (most would recommend dr. bronners) and wash it less often if you plan on doing so with your locks. the reason behind this is that you need to make sure you get the residue out of your hair so it doesn't end up staying there after you start your locks. i found that washing every day (like i did when my hair was straight and i was able to condition) made my scalp super dry. so, you basically need to get the oil levels worked out. anyways, as far as how often you should wash, that's up to you. if you are afraid the locks will come loose (and they will) just wash through a stocking cap for a week or so. PM me if you need advice.

wash it as often as you want or as often is needed. i waited 6 days before my first wash, and now wash every 3 days or so

i currently use knottyboy shampoo bar once a week, and a bicarb/tea tree mix once a week.. but im thinking of trying either bronners, or just water =]

yep I believe its different for everyone, I for one have reeeeaaally dry scalp cause I use almost boiling water to take a bath hence dont need to wash my head so often,, aslo itchiness the first days is the worst cause youre not used to it and I believe (have no proof though) that its also that the scalp is healing from so much abuse also most important is to wash with residue free shampoo doesnt really matter which one, most people here us dishsoap and I find it odd how many people have recommended it

    cant wait to see pics
