These are a collection of haikus (and a full length poem) done over the past couple of days. Although, the first two were done a couple weeks ago. And, for the record, Jim is a friend of mine, and Kahlo is my new puppy. :)

    cedar waxwings,
    outside the window
    eating from a tree.
    --------------------
    birds are gathered,
    in the apple tree,
    Jim and I watch.
    -------------------
    Kahlo and I sit,
    and watch the sun set
    with colours ablaze...
    -------------------
    orange, red, yellow,
    purple, grey, & sky blue
    whisked across the sky.
    ---------------------
    Kahlo sleeps by my side,
    as I reside,
    watching the day fade.
    ----------------------
    the coloured clouds
    of daylight's end,
    are always still.
    -------------------
    my notebook page,
    just ruffled
    in the wind.
    ----------------
    and as the last of
    it fades, we'll walk down
    through the valley.

These were all done today, when my dog and I were out at a nature preserve, watching the sun set. :)

    you be careful, little one,
    angular rocks are
    no place for dogs.
    ------------------
    this rock I sit
    upon, smells of
    cow shit.
    ---------------
    so many photographic
    moments, and alas...
    no camera.
    --------------
    the sky has a
    beautiful display,
    as does the ground.
    -----------------
    Kahlo runs free,
    and smells at the
    grass and cow shit.
    -----------------
    Kahlo lays low,
    far down below
    this rock I sit on.
    -----------------
    above is a great
    big canvas of blue
    and grey thrown across.
    -------------------
    the golden sunset
    falls over west,
    near the silo's.

These are a few longer ones, all done today.

    "Untitled"
    ----------
    the best type of poems
    are often over-looked.
    free of metaphors,
    scribbled in a book.

    "Native Dance"
    ----------------
    I dance my Native dance,
    behind the rocks and trees.
    Beneathe a golden sky
    beside my brother stone.

    Free from living trance,
    floating in the Native breeze,
the plants are here and I
    am never left alone.

    "play time"
    ----------
    Kahlo and I play,
    and roll in the grass.
I laugh and call her name,
    she's biting at my pants.

(this one ^^ is one of my favs. :))

    "Whispy Clouds"
    ---------------
    Over there, some whispy clouds
    join with the other ones.
    the Sun is slowly meeting
    the horizon line, so bright
    I can hardly see.

She struggles to climb up the rock,
but before I can help, she finds
her own way. My daughter is
    learning and finding her way...
    she growls at the
    Earth.

Shadows are thrown on the page,
and meet my pen as I
    write solemnly. The words of
    understanding are flowing through
me, and the rocks as well.

the Whispy Clouds still at play
with the sky, and a golden sunset
dust hangs over the valley. I
sing to my dog, as I write these
    words...and take in the Earth.

I feel bad for not having written a poem for my cat, yet, so here's one, now. I also love me cat, very much. He's my dude! :D

    For Jehu
    --------
    green eyed monster,
    whisper me meow.
    jump to my lap,
    and into my heart.

    claw and bite,
    and mark up my hands
    fighting with claws
    like a little lion man.

Oh my god, James. Those were the cutest fucking poems I've ever read. They just made me smile like a little kid.

    "you be careful, little one,
    angular rocks are
    no place for dogs.
    ------------------
    this rock I sit
    upon, smells of
    cow shit."

    ADORABLE.

    I can't get over it.

This one is absolutely fucking brilliant. I love the second stanza... and strangely, I even liked:

"but could i tell you? no.
    we're merely acquainted,
    through wine and a piss."

    *gigggles*

    Awww, thanks Lozi! :)

here's a new one...(just turned this one into a song, right after i wrote it.)

    Ocean
    -------
and i can just imagine how you smell,
breathing it in, and breathing it out.
your sweater hangs below your waist,
unraveled at the elbow, exposing the skin.

playing a tune, in silence, in grey
blurred in my eyes, & slurred in my ear.
you're drunk & defined, so sweet,
    and so small.

i can live only so much of this,
taking it in, and letting it go.
your hair, like mine, hangs in your face
and it's so hard to swim through to you.

it's so hard to swim through,
    these tangles and knots.

Didn't like that one? Alright, here's another.

    breaking the willow tree
    ------------------------
will she cover her eyes, for a minute?
i want to hold her hand in distance, yet.
running through the letters to spill
out your heart, out your mind,
    even me.

today i fell asleep on the sun,
and i came to a seventh sense.
my willow tree is shaving hours,
our incessant need for this grace.

today, i feel awake in tonight,
    tonight i came to realisation.
my apple seed is naming ours,
our nonsense and all out disgrace.

    Wasted
    -------
    I'm sorry I haven't called you,
I forgot where the phone is at
I'm sorry I have forgotten you
don't know where my mind's been at

    wasted with regret,
    I just want to forget

    Been insane, wasted with regret
suffered so much that I can't sleep
push me and kick me down the stairs
how much more was I supposed to take?

    wasted with regret,
    I just want to forget

    No problem.

You never cease to just blow me away. You are SUCH a good writer, and if I was as good as writer as you are, maybe I could put into words how much I adore your poetry :D

When are we gonna start making books, so I can illustrate for ya?:D

    divine
    ------
    god, i'm writing cliches..
    somebody shoot me.
    i've just opened a can
    of fucking worms and sick
    head shit crawling in the
    floorboards.

    i'm such a fool
    i'm such a goddamned fool,
    manically in search of
    desperate second chances.
oh, but you found it all
    too soon, didn't you?
    go to hell.

    no hesitation, it's all
    done by, gone by my
    head, before i even realised
    you crawled in his lap,
    carved your new niche.

    gradually getting smaller,
    more confined, yet less
    defined, and more to the
    point. i won't ever forget
what you did, you opened up
    this fucking can of worms.

    i hope it smells divine.

there's something about this last one that I like a lot, although I'm not exactly sure what it is. you have a very unique quality to all your work, i also especially like "forgiven not for duty undone".
