What they said. It's dualism that's all. Hatred is hatred and it's wrong any way you cut it. Blind hatred is even worse. Hating all cops blindly is bigotry. Pushing in one direction will only cause the other side to push back and nothing will ever get solved. Most of us don't like authority figures because we tend to go against the law on alot of things, but it's the system we should be dissatisfied with - not the individuals.

But yeah, back to Eugene's case... That article is sad. I can't even imagine what the people in his surroundings are going through. I feel for them. And poor woman saying he was never violent and idealizing him just like we all do when we are grieving and then the media going to look for old skeletons in his clauset from 8 years ago.

 

I'm still guessing dude was smoking sherm. Looking forward to the autopsy report.

 

Exactly-you know, I'm basically a pacifist, and I believe in avoiding violence as much as possible-but if I was a cop and arrived on the scene to find a naked man eating the face off of another naked man-and when I ordered him to stop, he looked up at me and growled-I'm pretty sure I'd have blown him to smithereens. How in the hell could you restrain somebody like that? That guy was just incredibly dangerous-no telling what he might have done to somebody else if he had the chance.

I only lasted a year because I could see the problems that you mention. Ironically, my corrupt thot was to shake down some of the Hippies that we knew were smoking dope on the levee and steal their stash. I had never smoked it but was curious. Anyhow 'I quit the police department ...' and by 1970 I was at the Atlanta Pop Festival smokin' dope.

Bob, I didn't mean restrain, but try to incapacitate without killing him-it'd be interesting to hear what he would have to say.

A bullet might not stop him, but that's raw trauma, a tazer can be fought, but there's a lot to it, usually size plays a very large role, if it's a sufficent tazer and well shot at a small enough person who's AWAKE (surisingly important, from what I've read) it does make it quite physically impossible to do anything but convulse.

Anyway, I think the cop should have fucked his shit up, if needbe, but it would have been better if he could have woken up from it.

Again, I'm not exactly condemning or blaming the cop -maybe it would have further deteriorated the situation, and he made the right call-but we'll never know now.

 

Well at least they still have his corpse to study whatever the hell was causing him to do what he did. However, if it was something caused by a virus or illness, then we'll probably either never hear about it again or they'll just cover it up with some bullshit about bathsalts or whatever.

 

Alright, so the last thing i heard was that dude was on some serious un-lucky acid which was the cause of several other incidents recently. Seems there's some very shitty 'LSD' making the rounds - probably an amalgam of drug lab leftovers like PCP, etc.

Good advice for kids. In the mid '80s when my daughter was a teen, we told her not to try grass because at that time in Miami it was being laced with 'angel dust.' We told her if she really wanted to try some (both Brenda and I hadn't smoked since the '70s) we would get her uncle in North Florida to get some home-grown. She never tried any (Girl was not adventurous at all - but that was fine from a parent standpoint).

 

Err...that wouldn't be an authorative one, just a friend who told me this crazy story at work yesterday I have no experience with PCP and plan to keep it that way, but I have a relative who is a paramedic and he's told me stories of people strung out on the dust, so to my easily impressionable mind it seemed conceivable.
