SKIP - your thread title was Police refusing to rescue Brits from New Orleans.. and that is what we are discussing... do you now want to re-name your thread 'police refuse to rescue Brits from the Ramada hotel' ?
wots the difference? the authorities made a rescue based on a persons race ........ it must been like being at the gates of Auschwitz in 1943....
I love how you play the race card to try an stir anger in the brits there skip. im sure many feel that the poor black folk should wait while there rich, vacationing ,countrymen who put themselves in that situation by choosing not to evacuate jump to the front of the line.. thats just brilliantly deviant.. :X
If I'm reading the article right, these were the preliminary evacuations, thus there would be no casualties from the hurricane's aftermath (since the hurricane was yet to hit). Maybe there were casualties from the panic created by the hurricane's arrival? I'd like to see who took priority over this woman, though. Not saying that she should have been the highest priority...I'm just wondering what the priorities were.
Not really , what if it was a black british person.. the circumstances can be orchestrated in a way to highlight a strange POV.. It is grasping at straws.
oh but wait they did!!! http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/WWLBLOGFRIDAYNIGHT.54fff589.html 3:34 P.M. - (AP) The evacuation of Superdome refugees was interrupted briefly when school buses rolled up so some 700 guests and employees from the Hyatt hotel. They were move to the head of the line to be evacuated -- much to the amazement of those who had been crammed in the stinking Superdome for days. The 700 had been trapped in the Hyatt just like the others, but conditions were considerably cleaner, even without running water, than the unsanitary crush inside the dome.
wot do you mean "not really"? this is 2005......race shouldn't be an issue in any aspect of life (well, unless yer racist by nature i suppose)...... to judge anyone's worth based on race is archaic in thinking...I for one thought that the americans had moved on from that hell, why did the rescuers even ask where those people came from? they musta been considering rescueing those brits before they asked.....or they woulda been elsewhere, right?
It just amazes me that foreigners just don't believe that so many Americans are racist and that America was founded on racism, or that many of America's leaders are in fact racist.
Yes, and it has been noted that you've yet to contribute anything to this discussion, so why are you here?
Pabsy has contributed to the discussion, Skip. She quoted my post and offered a differing point of view to me. Is that not a contribution?
well it would seem to me that you assume the britts are rascist as well being the way you worded your origional post "get in line behind the poor black folks"???
Using the example of a barbaric regime , bent on killing millions of people .. for the fact of there race/religeon.. is pathetic [imho].
No, merely calculated misinformation, saying there were casualties that were more important, when it appears there were no (or fews) injures among those rescued from the hotels. It was the fact that they were AMERICANS that got them rescued. And we don't allow trolls here! Last warning.
isn't the race thing more to do with the socio economics of things meaning that the poorer people in New Orleans were black and therefore less able to make their way out than to do with any direct discrimination?
they made a call if someone should have a better chance of survival based on race........yes, it is pathetic, no argument there.
It has more to do with certain individuals wishing to paint other individuals as 'racist scum' thats all it has to do with.
