i lived in a trailer for a while. GOD, it was in some gorgeous mountain country. river running through the valley, aspens all around, deer & elk wandering around.

the trailer smelled like rotting balsawood, though.

I stayed in a caravan on holiday when I was a kid.

it's just a cheap house, really. some are really nice. our's was nicely renovated, some are better than some regular houses i've stayed in. you should look them up. my brother bought one in a really pretty trailer park years ago. it's gorgeous. his wife kept it. they're not all gravel roads and tawdry, run down neighborhoods. some trailer parks are worth millions and are more beautiful than a lotta neighborhoods.

and they have central heating and air.

 

I suppose it gives people more freedom on where to live.
Its never caught on in England.I remeber the steel walls didnt insulate on caravans.

Maybe its our culture.
Americans can live in the wilderness and explore.
Whereas in England , its all you're allowed to do to put a tent up in the countryside.

 

yeah. prefab homes are actually getting pretty damned awesome. some of them you can't even tell are prefab. of course there's still the crappy trailer parks, my friend lived in one that was absolutely horrific. but a caravan is a totally different thing. we call them campers. trailers, too, but less often anymore.

 

Oh.I think the insulation's alot better now.Some people spend £50k on mobile ones.The Lake District has some really nice places.

But generally British people think of gypsies...Maybe thats why they dont use em?

 

i don't know. most trailer parks don't have "caravans." they have prefab homes. these homes have to be hauled around on a flatbed semi, they can't just be dragged along behind a truck. trailer is an outdated term, a misnomer, really.

my FIL bought a GLORIOUS caravan with cherry wood cabinets, bedroom/bathroom, satellite big screen television, room in the back for an atv. that's what he hauls around behind his truck to his different job sites.

 

I know an Irish guy who's really into em.
But mortgages are tricky with anything prefab here.

I've always wondered about a boat.Sort of travelling here and there for a few months.
Sort of a new neighbourhood all the time.

 

yeah! my sister in law has a houseboat on navajo lake. they practically live in it during the summer. my dad has a few friends who live in their boats, and they just adore it. they can sail their house to wherever they wanna go.

Go for europe ,America is fooked ,If there is not a repeat of the wall street crash then the volcano at yellow stones will get ya .More than likely the americans will probly blow them selves up .Happy out in europe

I choose Europe but it would've been nice if it hadnt of had the part about trailer parks in it. I chose it because I like Europe, its a diverse place, and I enjoy visiting various parts of it, not because I dont like America. I dont know America. I dont want to know America. I have Europe.

 

Well Europe wins hands down, America is only one country, Europe is many.
