I'm not into polygamy. I mean I wouldn't like to share my lover with anybody and I expect she would feel the same about me, if I had one. But each to their own. If somebody wants multiple spouses and can provide for them, go for it.

I saw a documentary a long time ago about Utah...the woman interviewed said that the women were not even taught to read, and they didn't try to escape because they had no idea the outside world even existed.

Yeah. I rather have one man, and treat him amazingly and put all my attention into that. then Have a bunch, and do each of them okayish..
I really don't care what everyone else chooses to do with their relationships. I just dont want to share/cant handle more then one guy.

yea, willing adults who want to have that multiple wives/husbands - its cool. but its sick how cultish this is and are forced into this way of life - sick

but not for me...way too many wives for me. 1 will be enough

    what she said
poly is great for consenting adults who both want it and can communicate well with all the parties involved
it is not for children, it is not a decision parents should make for their offspring, it should not be forced upon someone.
its also not for me... its not the worst thing ever, but its not my ideal take on a relationship

I'm reading this book at the moment, it's called Escape and it's written by a woman named Carolyn Jessop. She was born into the FLDS (fundamentalist latter day saints church) cult and basically it's a story about her life, how she ended up as the fourth wife of one of the most powerful men in the cult and also how she and her children manage to escape it all and start a new life. It's a very heartbreaking story. She was 18 when she was forced to marry a man who was waaaay older than her, was forced to carry his children and basically be nothing more than a slave to him. She also talks a lot about the inequalities in the relationship she has with her husband and the other wives (I think there was 7 of them in total?)... like how one of the wives is his favourite and so she has the power to treat the other wives as dirt... It's all very disturbing.
