Pop or Soda?

    In Australia we call it Softdrink...but i like the hard stuff...Harddrink?

    Upper Great Lakes region...soda and pop seem interchangeable here. I'll say "soda pop" once in a while for the halibut.

    In TN it's soda. In OH it's pop.

    I either call it 'fizzy drink' or by it's individual name eg coke is coke, ginger beer is ginger beer etc..

    and I'm from NZ

    i call it soda

    tonic goes in gin and has quinine in it...

    ha, yeah, totally. Tonic is the one with gin.

    but Soda is different too - Soda here (New Zealand) is soda water - as in carbonated water with bicarbonate of soda in it. It's great for hangovers.

    So I guess I have to stick with fizzy drink as a generic name for carbonated beverages
