So much ignorance in only one thread. I'm a very non-religious person and my views don't align with those of the Catholic Church but to assume that NO priest whatsoever became a priest because for devotion to God is an absolute exaggeration. I think there are many horrible perverted people in the church, like there are many horrible perverted people in a corporation or like there are many horrible perverted people in these forums or a hippie festival. No group of people will ever be excluded from the darker side of humanity, but that doesn't take away from the people who are pure and devoted. Do they have flaws like everyone else? yes. Maybe they have committed things they regret in their past? Who hasn't? It doesn't mean that they all rape little kids or they've murdered people and are escaping from that. People here have a wild imagination or that they are all gay (and I never knew that being homosexual made you a bad priest). I don't believe in celibacy and it's something that *I* wouldn't do, but I completely understand how a religious person, whether a priest or a monk chooses to practice it.

It sounds like the assumptions and exaggerations on this thread have mostly been made by the "open minded" people. The best part was the graph with the IQ chart. Do people still care about IQ numbers? So, so silly. I've met some very unwise people with allegedly high IQs and I've met some very simple uneducated people who happened to be very in touch "with it" and understood. But whatever makes you feel better and makes you think that you're *right*.

 

Yeah, this thread is hilarious. It's like a microcosm of the ignorance of humanity. I like it though, I've enjoyed reading it.
