yeah, that's what i thought.

 

He was not referring to the homosexual lifestyle as being a perversion. Rather, he was stating that gay priests join the safety of the priesthood to satisfy their perversion for pedophilia.

You're making it sound like he's the Governor of California, or something.

 

Not everybody thinks all perversions are bad.

 

We don't have to agree with each other's Genesis story after all. Just accept there are different intererpretations, or at least tolerate if you can't accept. For most people it is not the creation story in the first place that makes them connected to another religion by the way, but I may hope you are secretly aware of that too. You just like to oversimplify/generalize as usual.

 

Corruption in any large organization tends to concentrate at the higher levels, so it is possible that some ordinary priests went into the ministry for idealistic reasons. But that doesn't mean that the whole theological system is not terribly misguided, nor that those individuals couldn't be making better use of their time and effort in other ways, like working for a nonreligious charitable organization that makes the world a better place in some tangible way. Another huge problem is that church members usually can't tell a good priest from a bad one before it's too late.

Any way you look at it, the whole system is fucked.

I take issue just as much with their teaching that faith is of greater value than factual knowledge and evidence. This is just wrong on so many different levels! If you can stop people from thinking for themselves and reaching logical conclusions, you lead a group to do almost anything.

 

I'm not opposed to gay rights, but I completely agree with this statement.

 

I am sure black people were also too much in everyone's face when fighting for the rights denied to them. I am also certain that our ancestral women were too much in everyone's face while fighting for the right to let you be able to speak your mind and have a career as a doctor instead of being holed up in the kitchen with the seventh bun in the oven.

 

did ye know that the kkk in america were all protestants and baptists. they hated black people other minority groups and catholics,because the catholic church welcomes all people.the kkk were and still are plain evil! and none of them were catholics....

 

I can understand that. However, it is the thing to me as evangelical christians. They are so in your face about it that it actually serves to increase intolerance of the cause, rather than gaining support from outsiders.

hitler and the kk would have been great friends. and i for one am very happy ta see that pope go,cos he was a nazi to, unlike our last pope who was a good one. i'd like to see a black pope next.black and gay preferably. ya an hitler fed the ducks as well!
