good post johnny, if you love pt but dont like the new direction check out the band No Man, its another of stephen wilsons bands but sticks to the proggy side rather than the rocky, also awesome i love demians and pineapple thief too will have to check out the rest of your suggestions
nice to see another riverside fan on here - their trilogy is amazing. almost up there with PT, not quite but almost
No problem, I always love reccomending music that I like; I'm glad you're enjoying them! And thank you for the post of your own, I have all of Riverside's stuff and it's really great, Second Life Syndrome is fantastic! PRR has such a great future ahead of them, I'm upset because when I saw Porcupine Tree a year ago in Cleveland, their opener was 3, but the DAY AFTER it was PRR and I was really diggin' them at the time. Oceansize is pretty sweet as well I have both their albums and they've got some potential as well. I haven't heard of Amplifier though, gotta check them out, if it's in the ranks with those other bands, then they gotta be great! EDIT: Oh and No Man is awesome stuff as well! I have Flowermouth and will probably get another album from them as soon as I can!
Yeah, I've seen 3 open for PT quite a few times, and they played with DT and Opeth a couple of months ago. The lead singer/guitarist is crazy to watch--haha. Pure Reason Revolution is made up of such nice people. I went to see them in Philly but the person I was with couldn't get into the little bar they were playing in because of the type of ID he had. So we were standing outside completely disappointed when we saw all the band members hanging out, too. We ended up talking to them for a good while and we told them what had happened. They ended up offering to put us on their guest list for the next day's show at Nearfest. The bassist gave us her number in case we needed to get in touch with them. So we drove 2 hours the next day to get to Nearfest and got to see a truly amazing show for free. So...the point of my story is that not only are they fantastic musicians, but they're really awesome people too I love when that happens--haha. Yeah, definitely check out Amplifier if you haven't already. I really dig their stuff And to gingerness: I'm seeing Riverside in a few weeks! I'm so excited
Yea, PT are definatly awesome. I like Up The Downstair and The Sky Moves Sideways the best... back when Steve Wilson did LOTS of acid.
I have a couple of cd's from them, so I must have liked something about them, but I never seem to listen to them anymore. I guess with all the cd's I have, there is just always something better to listen to.
damn im so jealous, theyve only been over here once and that was down in London so i couldnt get there. Ive just recently got into PRR too, got the album and loved it so have downloaded live at NEARfest too which is also great. Just started listening to OSS too, only heard one album (the first one with Steven Wilson on it) and it was great.
i loove PT. voyage 34 is great and i love recordings, buying new soul is one of my all time fav songs.......does anyone like no man?? they are a side project of steve wilsons.
what songs are good for me to get in too, i like rush and dream theater and sonata arctica anything along those bands?
Oh my God!!! Artist of Peace I am so jealous of you! PRR is definitely a band that I look forward to seeing mature, their first album was amazing, I hope their second is just as good!
You know, most people I talk to have never heard of them. I have to say though I'm not a fan of "Fear of a Blank Planet" They lost something in that album.. I'm not sure what it was. I have to say though "Sever" has to be my favorite song.(From the album Signify) Not sure why. "Telepath Carbon trapped under stone Brother mother pale body is thrown Only way I know to have fun Fill up my blood, my veins, my lungs ESP city - rainy and blue Burn down this town, I give it to you Aero shallow, photograph blind Stage fright, black light, coma divine No sense of time Sever tomorrow Exitless mind - ESP Sever tomorrow School out invective, losing my voice Film shredding on in multiple choice America calls, I must go Oprah saviour, I feel that low" And for whomever said Steve Wilson wasn't any good.. you can't say those lyrics he wrote aren't brilliant.
