Ugh, India .......$US420 million for that. In a country with 276 million people living on less that $1.25 a day, what an eyesore

I disagree. Do you think they shouldn't have a space program either because of all the poor people there?

Space exploration has more value than a big statue

I don't think its an eyesore because of it. But i wouldn't like it on my horizon. It fits nicely there :)

But then again, i'm a big fan of the Easter Island Moai and also also the Buddhas of Bamiyan
Maybe this statue will cause future generations to marvel at the ingenuity and artistry of people from the early oughts!

Statue of liberty isnt that big and it was placed in a city so it doesnt stick out against the natural geography like ^that thing. I think it looks quite nice against the backdrop of NYC

    Yes actually.

Whats the use of a space program until we learn how to set up colonies on the moon, mars etc.

And dont say we need space exploration first to do that, we dont, we need to work out how to fake magnetic fields, gravity and super duper GM foods first.

And if we spread out wealth across the globe we'd all breed less. That really should be our primary goal.

60 years of space exploration across 6 main space agencies/countries....and what we got? Still cant figure out how to make a proper heat shield for a space shuttle, wont be able to know for sure what the universe is until we can measure down to the Planck length. All the big problems we dont need to actually be in space to solve
