regardless of their intentions and ideals, they were pretty much thugs, murderers and terrorists, especially by today's definition.
if you think they were all about equality and racial tolerance, BUHAHAHAHA!!!!
they were pretty much the black KKK at their height of popularity.

Not exactly the "black KKK" according to this other perspective.
I guess it is just how you look at from a personal perspective.

 

a racist is a racist no matter what color their packaging happens to be.
the majority of the BPP were racist just as vile and poisonous as the KKK.
Until people recognize racism in all it's colors and deal with it accordingly, there will always be a "race" problem.

This thread is for pics of anything, including memes. But I think if a meme or whatever pic inspires a comment (esp. with a sincere thought on a pic with a point/statement behind it) that should not be an issue in any way. On the contrary. I guess it only gets annoying when there's a whole page of posts without pics in a thread that's supposed to be about pics (which is not the case)

 

what if the picture is only there as a means to voice one's personal opinions regarding a volatile issue, isn't that then skirting the specific thread rules to interject political commentary in what is meant to be a neutral picture repository?

what I mean is that the criteria for a group to be considered "terrorist" has been greatly expanded since 1966, so while they may not have technically fallen under the categorization as a terrorist group then, they most certainly would now if they employed the same tactics and posturing as they did at their beginning.

and while the above posting may be technically accurate in regards to the BPP and KKK and their respective crimes, sadly the fact still remains today that black youth still account for a very disproportionate number of murders and violent crime committed in America. Those are hard statistics that can't be easily explained away nor can past racist attitudes towards blacks any longer be a viable explanation.

I am not being racist, nor is that simply my personal perspective. I am considering the facts and actions of the individuals regardless of their skin tone.
