Great music inspires. And Janis gave us that. Brilliant poetry keeps us going. Sylvia Plath gave us that... QP Found a couple more really cool Janis Joplin and Sylvia Plath quotes.
Ah well, same here. But I don't focus on how their lifes might have ended, just on the inspirational things. They are not necessarily role models. I probably have some subconsciously but personally I have no urge for a role model at all. Duh, just as it is ok to like Bieber's stuff I am not that familiar with Plath's work so to me it is easy to just appreciate a quote of her. Yeah, I sometimes am annoyed when people romanticize the shit out of a musician too but when it's all in proportion it's not a big deal. Everybody does this to some extend with the stuff they dig. So I guess it would be easier to see if it did appeal to you right Although I am not american I will consider it, thanks :2thumbsup:
Its not specifically about who says the quote, its about what it means, I rarely actually look to see who's quote it is...
LOL. That's a really cool pic and quote. Humor is inspirational. Anybody else like/see this movie? QP
Yes, clearly overromanticized Just kidding, it's worthy of romanticizing. I guess it is just whored with in my face a bit too much.
This one always gets me. I can relate to it a lot. I feel for those people who never find their place, and I am inspired by those who learn to live without needing that validation anyway. :sunny:
Yeah, suppose thats the same with most things in life. You wouldn't go to a chef if he had poisoned all of his other customers.
here's another. that there's the barricade at cable street, East London, 1936. on it are painted the words "They shall not pass" and you know what? they fucking didn't.
This kind of thing is inspirational to me. We can't all be happy with poems of rainbows and lyrics of blue skies.
Do you know what Charles Darwin, Edwin Hubble, and Mahatma Gandhi have in common? Two were misogynistic and all three were staunch racist :/ but we can still celebrate their achievements in science and the fight of oppression because they got it right. If you get science and or the humanity right, it can even transcend who you are - which is good, because no one is perfect and we need more composite-heros. Not to gang up on ya Piaf, but that's sort of how I see people who don't necessary live savory lives. (not that you asked, just saying)
