I can't wait until they start mining cheese. Its supposed to be super high quality, better than anything the French make.
easily processed iron, easily processed aluminum, tritium, and, again, low grav. all we need is to find some silicone up there, build a giant mass driver, and we're in business for martian exploration\colonization.
I think there was also serious concern at the time that the cold war arms race was going to spread into space. The Soviets could have put nuclear weapons in low orbit, drastically reducing our reaction time since they would have been passing directly over us several times a day. Also, imagine key command and control facilities relocated to the moon, especially valuable if they would be out of reach of the other country. Our efforts to maintain superior space capabilities insured that none of this ever happened.
I still can't believe they wasted all the money on that shit. Oh wow, they landed on the moon. Did they find anything? No. Let's head back.
you need to take some science classes.. most of those elements are easily available here on Earth. Giant Mass driver.....roflmao.. :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:
Oh yeah... the big nucs from space thing... but with any real understanding of the past and present nuclear stockpile... is why?.. we're toast if if ever starts. the scariest thing I find now is the number of people who actually think there is such thing as a survivable nuclear war.
Like I stated in the Paranoia Forum Either someone from NASA had their head up their ass when the original 1969 tape of the moon landing was taped-over, or there’s a conspiracy of unprecedented magnitude afoot Hotwater
This was all a part of 1950s strategic thinking. Unfortunately, this issue could resurface again, if somebody like North Korea or Iran decides to orbit a weapon for blackmail or intimidation purposes. Probably some low-level technician decided that the analog original had no further value once its content had been digitized and archived. Analog video tapes slowly deteriorate in quality even in a vault due to the earth's magnetic field. And the existence of the supposed original proves nothing about how it was made.
1. if we don't have to ship silicone up to the moon that's REALLY much cheaper in fuel, because then, we can manufacture solar panels, on the moon. we already have easily processed iron up there for a giant rail gun, as well as aluminum, to shield everything else, all we'd have to do is ship up the capacitors, and a little bit of fuel 2. imagine if you will, using, instead of a rocket to get a vessel orbital, a mass driver (NASA has, ane EVERY other space organization,) problem is, here on earth, gravity is too much to deal with, it's not worth it. on the moon, where gravity is much lesser, it becomes a viable option, not only to build this structure (with much less bracing for it's weight, conveniently enough) and to launch capsules with VERY small amounts of fuel for the sake of maneuvering, using energy exclusively generated by solar panels. there is a real possibility of colonizing mars (water there, small amount of air, again, mineral wealth) and to do that, we'd need to use the moon, otherwise we'd be using other resources at a rate too fast for it to be worth it. the moon is a viable, reasonable, and logical stepping stone in space exploration. and also when we get into larger scale space exploration, will be either the place where we build our ships, or a staging area for it.
No one ever suggested that an unmanned vehicle couldn’t land on the moon and deploy a rover (equipped with a camera) capable of photographing the earth from the lunar surface Hotwater
Does it really matter if the moon landing was faked? We should be focusing more on earth anyway. We actually live here.
Why does everybody always go on about Mars and it's minerals..... Saturn is a better bet. One big ball of fuel. Several moons: tether. and besides, if we havent figured out how to recycle better before we figure out a vibable way to get to Mars or Saturn, we're fucked anyway....so Saturn...with it's gasses is a much better target.
