There is a huge difference between use, abuse, and addiction.
Many people drink, few abuse it. Abuse means that you use more than you should for longer than is healthy, i.e. a two-week bender is abuse, smoking an entire 1/8th by yourself in three hours is abuse (but my oh my is it fun ).
Use means just that, from using pot, to herion, to alcohol, it's all the same.
Addiction is when you can't really function normally and have been abusing for a sustained period of time...

So weed might be the most used drug in the u.s., but i doubt it's the one that is most abused (could be wrong though), and it is certainly not the one most people are addicted too.

Interestingly enough, you can't abuse nicotine...

THE ONLY REASON THAT THE DEA (or other gov't agency) WILL SAY POT IS THE NUMBER ONE ABUSED DRUG IS BECAUSE THEY SEE ANY USE OF POT AS ABUSE.

Everytime I see all these bullshit facts about how more kids are admited for Pot Abuse than any other drug I am amazed that some people are dumb enough to believe this crap. Sure, more kids go into rehab over pot than any other drug, want to know why? They have no goddamn choice. I bet that at LEAST 85% of the kids admitted for pot abuse were put there against their will by the courts/schools/mis-informed parents. They didn't have a problem with pot, they simply got caught smoking it and were punished for it by being sent to re-hab.

First the gov't convinces parents that pot is the worst drug on the streets, then the parents catch their kid puffing on a J and immediately think that the only way to help their kids is to get them treatment. Same thing with getting caught at school smoking or having a judge order you to go to abuse classes or bullshit like that. The Gov't created this statistic on their own.
