Do explain! Personally, I belive PETA is a strong well oiled machine that has a powerful message. Yeah, there will always be those memebers who are corrupt, such as the head executives, but a majority of the members are super nice and in for a real cause.
Will I recently found this: http://petakillsanimals.com/ And well Peta sent me a video which was part of a tabling package. I watched the video to see if I could show it at the place I was going to hold the tabling. As I got though the video they had simple plan hold an animal that was skinned for a fur is bad campian. There was this guy who brought in the skinned animal and was talking to another guy about how he skinned it in a parking lot. Which I was confused about, because I mean why would he skin an animal if he is part of an organization where they protect animals? Plus I got an email from them wanting peta2 members to protest simies fighting fish... Honestly people are always going to have pets, and some of the stuff they do is a little over borad Its hard to know whats really anymore. But this does not mean im not for animal rights. Im still don;t buy products on animals and am still vegan. But I no longer support PETA.
People are and will always be full of shit! The only thing you can do is belive in what you belive in and not what others tell you to. PETA is good I think, others think differently. Honestly, make up your own mind. And just because you don't think PETA is demonstrating a good cause dosen't mean you should give up on your protest. I understand where a 15 year old mind would get confused, but honestly, you will learn that you must take everything with a grain of salt. People lie, people tell part truth part lie, and still on the other hand, most things are not black and white, there is gray and things are open to interpritation(SP). Belive in yourself and above all, learn! The mind is the most powerful weapon and when it is well equipped, then you will know what is true. Read everything you can and don't skip anything! Most importantly, I belive you should still go ahead with your protest. If you still feel the need. Just because you don't follow PETA standards dosen't mean you shouldn't do what you feel best in your heart!
I was going to post that peta kills animals link, but glad you found it on your own Brand New Soul Peta people are hypocritical bastards and I don't agree with anything they represent
Just thought Id share this with you. I sent them an email, basically saying ...I found the petakills website... and I want to know if this is true. I would also liek to know about this video you sent me. At one point simple plan had a photo shot and this guy brought in this dead skined animal, for a fur is bad compian. Anyways the camera caught this guy saying how he had to skin it in the parking lot. And I got this reply from peta: *
Thank you for your e-mail to PETA. We're happy to address the issues you raise. First, the animal used in the Simple Plan photo shoot was already dead before it was obtained for the photo. To my knowledge, it was discarded from a local processing plant; neither PETA nor the band had any involvement in killing this animal, nor did we pay anyone in order to use it. If you've heard otherwise, you've been misinformed. As for PETAKillsAnimals.com, this inaccurate and malicious Web site is the work a group called the Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF). The CCF tries to enhance its own image by circulating misleading and downright false information about our organization. There is probably no greater compliment or validation of PETA’s work than the desperate measures taken by this greedy industry front group—they are funded by such businesses as Philip Morris, KFC, Outback Steakhouse, and Ringling Brothers, as well as ranching and logging interests. In addition to PETA, targets of this reactionary group includes National Public Radio, the Humane Society of the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and anyone who draws attention to the health risks of smoking, drinking and eating meat. To learn more about the CCF, please see the following: http://www.ConsumerDeception.com http://www.prospect.org/web/page.ww?section=root&name=ViewWeb&articleId=8984 http://www.citizensforethics.org/activities/campaign.php?view=3. As for our euthanasia statistics, it is first important to note that PETA does not operate a shelter. Because we don't run a shelter, the majority of the animals we accept are those than are injured, aggressive, elderly or otherwise unadoptable. We offer humane euthanasia to animals who are often rejected by the so-called "no-kill" facilities, and who would otherwise suffer a slow and painful end. For the adoptable animals we do accept, we have managed to place many animals in excellent, lifelong homes over the years. The CCF and other groups have recently made misleading claims about PETA’s euthanasia rate compared to other shelters, such as the Norfolk SPCA. When the Norfolk SPCA implemented a selective-admission ("no-kill") policy to reduce its euthanasia rate, the number of animals taken in by other area shelters naturally increased. The nearby Virginia Beach SPCA, which accepts all animals and does not charge a drop-off fee, accepted 71 animals from Norfolk in one month alone. In 2004, the Norfolk SPCA took in only 1.7 percent of all homeless animals in the area—that’s only 765 out of 45,450 homeless cats and dogs. These kinds of shelters only pass the burden of euthanasia to someone else, so it is a matter of apples and oranges when compared to PETA’s euthanasia rate. While some of the animals we take in are lost companion animals or adoptable strays, for most of the animals we take in, euthanasia is often the only option. To cite a local instance, our caseworkers were able to gain custody of a dog—locked to a 15 pound chain—who was starved until she was severely emaciated. We had to carry her into the emergency clinic because she could barely walk. A vet recommended that the most humane option for her was a peaceful and dignified release from her suffering. We pursued criminal charges against those responsible for her condition, leading to their convictions for cruelty to animals. To learn more, please see http://www.HelpingAnimals.com/f-asiasstory.asp. On another occasion, when a power-line transformer explosion burned a flock of starlings, PETA was the only agency to come to the birds’ aid, offering the animals a painless escape from their suffering. PETA receives calls every week from people who do not have the inclination or money to provide vet care. Many of these people request that we euthanize their animal because they cannot afford to have them euthanized by a vet or because the animal would suffer excessive stress and pain if transported. Unlike “no kill” shelters, PETA does not refuse animals simply because euthanasia is the only humane option for them; so many of the animals we take in are brought to us because they have been rejected by other facilities like the Norfolk SPCA. PETA will not turn its back on these animals simply because they will make our "numbers" look bad. As you know, the best way to save the lives of homeless animals is through spay/neuter programs. Our spay and neuter clinic focuses much of its work in disadvantaged neighborhoods, where we offer free and low-cost surgeries. To date, we have sterilized more than 30,000 in our clinic. With $45 a person could either care for a dog in a “no-kill” shelter for about three days, or they could sterilize one animal, preventing the births of at least eight animals from this animal and her offspring in just one year and preventing the births of as many as 67,000 dogs in six years and 420,000 cats in seven years. For more information on PETA's low cost spay/neuter program, please visit http://www.helpinganimals.com/about_SNIP.asp. Animal abusers are terrified of the strides that PETA is making, and they are trying every trick in the book to squelch our right to tell people the truth. It is a measure of our effectiveness that they are feeling so threatened by our achievements, and it only inspires us to work even harder for animals. We will always say what we think and vigorously defend animals and the defenders of animals. For more information about our many victories for animals over the past 25 years, please visit http://www.peta.org/feat/PETAMilestones/main.html. We hope this has shed some light on our policies and our work. Thank you for caring enough to ask, and for your compassion for animals. I'ts all peta BS. Most people are kind to animals anyways so we sure don't need them pushing their shit on us.
I have just made the choice...to not support any organization until they prove to be more then something otehr than propaganda (hope I splet that right)
Just stand up for what you believe in, not what organizations such as Peta tell you to. Other than local animal shelters, the only "group" I spend a dime on is WWF, though not a member. There are many great, legit Animal Rights groups out there, I'd personally recommend going to more "animal specific" groups though. They spend more time caring and helping recover the animals they care for. Peta focuses on too many things at once. When they protest, they do it in such a way that more people will be against their cause then for it. Locking yourself in a cage is ridiculous, IMO. I feed my dog Iams, and I recall they had/have on their site something about Iams and abuse to animals. I personally do not believe any of it, seeing as peta is the only ones I've heard anything about this from. Iams is one of the largest pet food companies out there and I'm sure more would have come out from other people than just peta.
