Fair enough. Weekends out with your mates are easy compared to years with the threat of imprisonment hanging over your head though ;)

i have never voted, this is not becasue i see not voting as having the attributes of courage and dignity. but becuase at the end of the day i believe it really doesnt matter coz every1 who gets into power are those with megalo maniacal tendancies who want nothing more than to be in power. and hence will be immediately corrupted by the controll they have recieved, regardless of the face they put on it. so inevitably we're fucked either way whatever happens.
i have never claimed benifits and i live independently from my parents (it's not that tricky), i pay what i have to to the government at that time and play my own little "sheepy" role in the world of work and taxes.

......ummm there was a point to this but it seems to have slipped my mind.
oh well, thats what you get for tryin to rant while stoned.

Has anyone seen the film "A bugs life"?

To me voting for the present government is like the ants in the film trying to decide which grasshopper will make the best leader, when really they didn't need any of them.

    Anyone seen Life of Brian?

"All right ... all right ... but apart from a prosperous economy, low unemployment, reduction of child poverty, enshrining the European convention on human rights into UK law, improving the NHS, introducing a minumum wage, regional devolution, abolition of third world debt, the banning of anti-personnel land mines, the banning of fur farming and the abolition of charges for museums..... what have the Labour government done for us?"

Sure, the system is shite and the Labour government is getting a lot wrong, but don't kid yourself - they're a lot better than the Tories.

The Labour government has implemented 100% debt relief for the world's poorest countries. It's not perfect, but it's a bloody good start. It's interesting as well to see you use terminology such as "wave that magic wand", because it indicates a reluctance to accept that the government has ever done anything good. Now I agree that the Labour party is pretty much a sham, and some of the policies coming out of Downing Street disgust me. But burying your head in the sand and just trying to pretend that the government is 100% evil undermines your credibility. In order for your opinion to be worth a shit, you need to look impartially at the situation (and I use 'you' here generically).

On the contrary. You dismiss those of us who choose to vote as sheep. I think it's a bit rich for you to make such a derogatory statement and then to try and pretend that somehow your insulting me is my problem.

Now you're misrepresenting me. I didn't accuse you of being arrogant on that basis. I accused you of being arrogant for (as you stated) not giving a shit about anyone else's opinion.

Untrue. They're introducing a lot of legislation that disgusts me, but they've also done a lot of good, and almost certainly been better than the Tories would have been. As I said earlier, it's no good just demonising your enemy, because it undermines your credibility. If you try and pretend that the Labour government have never done anything worthwhile then you make yourself look like a fool who's just opposed to them for the sake of it.

I agree 100%. I think it's unforgivable that these laws are being passed, and I think the Labour party should be ashamed of itself. However, this doesn't mean that they've never done anything good during their time in office, or that they're no better than the Tories.

For someone who preaches a lot about new-age values of love and light, you seem to be very fuelled by hate and anger. You viciously attack the Labour government without any apparent interest in the truth. When truth become a casualty of political protest, you've already lost the battle. By all means oppose the government for much of what their doing (as do I), and by all means express your anger. But it's foolish to allow this to blind you to the whole situation to the point where you demonise those you oppose.
