I don't believe that Global Warming is as much of an issue as people pose it to be. The damn globe naturally goes through warm and cold periods. Ofcourse humans should stop their shit... but not just because of this notion of "global warming". Plus, I don't like the cold... let the heat siiiink it
Actually... according to natural temperature cycles... we should be heading into another ice age and so it should definitely not be getting any warmer.
Also, I watch movies constantly and I haven't seen any with hardcore patriotism or anything... maybe you are watching the wrong kind of movies from America.
It ain't getting any warmer. Fucken snow everywhere. It's supposed to be freezing here tonight... in fucken Florida!
Yeah, it's far colder than normal here in Northern Cali... it is not supposed to snow on the north coast or ever get below 40... but it has been. So I'm just saying that getting colder is exactly what is supposed to be happening.
america was the first to put a man on the moon and to end racism (both done in the sixties) so we have something to be proud of
you didn't even read what i said about apathy before you made a statement about it. and antithesis already summed up what i have to say about americans being responsible for george w. bush. i wouldn't have voted for george w. bush. his political ideas do not reflect the ideas of the whole country... america is huge. i don't agree with the people who voted for him. whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect.
Not that it was that much of a majority that he got voted in by. In my opinion it wasnt a majority at all... it was just rigged that way.
i was actually going to mention that... it's hard to believe that bush fooled that many people, especially in the first election.
As all fairy tales start.... Once upon a time, when I was yet a child, I was intensely proud to be an American, John Kennedy was president, we were headed for the moon, America stood for truth and justice, and we helped people in need, e.g The Berlin Airlift, (even if JFK proclaimed himself a jelly doughnut). My parents, both childhood immigrants were veterans of the Pacific Theater of WWII, they passed thier love of country to me. JFK was murdered Martin Luther was murdered RFK was murdered (by the way if this had not happened I believe the world would be a good place now, he was the one that really spearheaded the civil rights progress in this country) I was shaken, but still a child, then in the spring of 68 childhood ended, with the onset of puberty, and the arrival of a closed coffin from Vietnam, my cousin, the one who when I was 2 years old saved my life. Highland blood boiled, everything I'd been taught was a lie! I went from a flagwaving ultra right wing kid, to an establishment menacing "militant" antiwar radical within six months, and during the winter that I turned 13, was running a militant antiwar underground, patterned after the French Resistance of WWII(after all I'd seen every movie made about WWII and read a couple shelves full of books on the topic). But I still loved my country, one must if one is a revolutionary. And you know what, I still love the United States of America, and deeply grieve it's death. We the Sheeple July the Fourth 2005 The Veteran Cosmic Rocker Rest in peace dear intrepid founders of this honored land. Please look not here for your heirs to take a stand. We've gone to war on lies And our sons and daughters die. HE says he honors natures supposed creator, changes laws so that industry may rape her. I served a country that I loved with honor and distinction, Now I am a storage dweller while I watch it's sad extinction. The righteous, principles of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, once inalienable fact. Well these he's tossed on garbage heaps with his blasphemous Patriat Act. This day the fourth of month July, once filled me with patriotic intoxication. But now I sit in abysmal, depressive incapacitation. Our freedom more than once was bought with no less than our finest blood But now most bitter tears of our betrayal, these my face do flood. Alas a nation once of mighty "We the People" Has become the slaughter ground for meekly we the sheeple. Read "Stupid White Men" our government is stolen by a cowardly crook and his corporate cronies, who comes to our rescue? Where are the U.N. peace keeping forces garunteeing free elections? Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, well it was nice to think they were inalienable. Why is the shrub not under indictment by the World Court??? hmmm??? sine cera
a Asmodian, please pardon me if I am in error, for I can only conjecture that your refering to the following statement of mine... RFK was murdered (by the way if this had not happened I believe the world would be a good place now, he was the one that really spearheaded the civil rights progress in this country) I did certainly, and unfortunately overstate my position, I should have said the world, would be a better place, Bobby Kennedy was truly a good man, and a man not likely to compromise what he felt was right, for any amount of any type of pressure. No one can really say what having a man like that as president at that pivital time in the development of the United States but one thing that I would assert, having a Texas oil man certainly did not result in a whole lot of good. I've always felt Bobby signed his own death warrant when he said, "Only the office of the President can ever discover what really happened to my brother." Now as to this business of citizens of the United States being refered to as Americans. What about the Canadians, Mexicans,. Brazillians, and the rest fo the occupants of South America, surely they are Americans as wel. I can't think of another name that wouldn't be awkward, however I have always found it rather odd that this term came to be used. Sine cera
No, actually I ment with America the united states in this one. So I use thew word American as well for U.S. What I ment was that you, and I heard some other Americans (U.S. citizens) say the same, think that if the U.S. had better presidents the whole world would've been a better place. Maybe the States would be, but the U.S. aren't the world. So what I was stating is that you shouldn't have said the world, but the U.S.A.
U.S. presidents mean next to nothing... what you want is a better cabinet for the presidents, a nicer congress, a benevolent senate, and a judiciary who loves drugs but hates murder.
yes, you need all these factors! But the president often times has the final say... He chooses his Cabinet-they are not elected, and he chooses Supreme Court judges......I think you are underestimating his role just a bit. But now that our Senate and House has turned more in favor of getting out of the war and doing better for the environment, ( because the public voted for them!!) it will be interesting to see actually how much power the president does hold. But as so far, ol' Bushy has done everything in his power to get his way, and he got a lot.
Aha, now I see, and understand how my phrasing, or lack thereof actually, led you to this evaluation of my world view. Please understand that I am also of the opinion that the world would stand a significant chance of being a better place if Stalin, Hitler, or the Shah of Iran hadn't existed. However, it is possibly just a wee bit understandable that USians might have some notions of the actions of their gov't affecting the entire world given the actions taken in 1917, and 1941. There once was a nation called the United States of America, it was formed around high ideals and with nobel intent, at times it was a nation to be proud of, at times a nation to be ashamed of, it was the great experiment of a group of dissidents who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their honor to it's founding. When 200 years later as predicted by one of its' founding fathers it began to cease to be a nation of, by, and for, the people, another group of dissidents arose, by this time though the machine of the establishment was far better equipped to quell such unrest, and though the murder of four young dissidents shocked a nation, and much changed as a result of this group called hippies, the great experiment failed, for no longer is there a nation with liberty and justice for all beneath a flag that is now a lie, and I wonder why the world sits idlely by. sine cera VCR
Of course we are still proud to be americans, its just not at the same level it used to be. Being proud to be an american nowadays, around the world, is sort of taboo and its not welcomed or appreciated, as opposed to in the past. The united states is still a great country even though corruption controls it at the moment, the citizens of america are definitely somewhat responsible for that corruption and letting it get to the point of no return but its hard to stop the people who give you fancy cars, the best technology, internet, fast food, walmarts, supermarkets, big houses, money, wealth, opportunity, etc. Once you understand how the founders of this country really screwed its people you will realize it was virtually unpreventable to the average men and women. It could happen to any western civilization and it most likely is happening in your region of the world. Greed consumes you and makes you ignorant. That my friend, is the trap.
I would argue that the president's cabinet and party elects the president. The whole "puppet" syndrome.
