Bump for hanging out with a great lady last night... this thing has been brewing since I got back from burning man and it's blossoming into something pretty fuckin awesome.
It must be the right time.

Liked reading all the bump updates, Shiv and his gardening, Eat,GM Iron hitting shows and psychedelic evenings... good stuff you guys.

 

oh wow i didnt know i had to have that many. Maybe it explains how people are getting an inch a month of growth and i got just over an inch in a year :/

Not well versed in cactus growing but I can say that often more light equals more growth. There's alot of ways to increase light with simple home made rigging. Look at reflective surfaces, a few more lights, and particularly see if you can find some info on what wavelengths of light work best for cacti.




Those cfl's you're using come in many different color 'temperatures', and a simple tweek like going from 2100k to 4500k might make as big of an improvement as adding lights.
I know for MJ the geeks have charts that show which wavelengths are used most efficiently. I've used the approach of trying to supply the widest spectrum, using a few different lights rather than one specific light.

 

Problem is, you should see how hard it is to find info on that on the Internet. Everyone has a different opinion.

 

Ya, probably much like the mj sites and forums. Sometimes it takes a lot of digging, coming up with different phrases to google. I sometimes lean towards the scientist types and away from the heads when looking for that kind of info.

One other thing, don't look at watts when considering light bulbs. Always look at lumens.
Watts are what you need to consider when wiring things together and circuit loading, etc. Plants don't know electricity, they know light.

 

Well I had nearly three feet, so I buried about ten inches, and each node with spines can sprout roots..... I plan to make a monster. It's just a pet, as far as I've planned at the moment.

It had visible bulges from summers, and narrow areas from winters, with spine lenght being off by about a factor of three. This summer's bulge is about 2x as long as the others, so..... I'm assuming my method of cheating on root development worked excellently.

I also just let it get rained on, and also watered it some myself. It's been soaked all summer, probably wetter than it "should" be. So I assume that's helped.

I think it's branching at the tip.... or else it suffered a serious hail or bug related injury while I wasen't home. We shall see.

I plan to wait until it breaks from it's own size, and then build an army of equally formidable cuttings. (and I do mean formidible, being peruvianus the spines during the "summer" portions are a couple inches long, the whole thing is pretty scary looking)

I definitely did that at some point but i can barely even piece together the events of the night. I think right after the show ended before they kicked everyone out I was chilling there talking to 2 people about psychs.

 

Just think of what all the people on the tug boats must have been thinking ,seeing that as you go past .

 

I was planning to dose 6apb + Salvia sublingually today but I wussed out. I have not been no nervous to trip on a psychedelic in a long time. Talked to a few folks that said Salvia sublingual is not as intense as smoking and I figure as much but I came across one trip report that makes it sound like a really strong trip still. I want to explore it in a park or something where I feel the entities may be more free roaming but I may have to wait to have a trip sitter or find an area more secluded than I was planning.


So instead I'm going to dose some kava extract for the evening.
