In my experience, it is not the mere color of their skin that causes the problems....it's the cultural differences between the ethnicities that is the root of the problem. That being said, i will admit there are some cultural difference issues that make me pretty goddamn mad sometimes that i experience in my every day life...but i won't go into details (...unless you ask, haha).
And which racism would this be? Someone holding onto their purse worried you'll snatch it? Or a comment down at the barber shop by some old guy about "whitefolks"?
Is 'Reverse Racisim' when some other race hates anglo's or is it when people are especially nice to someone just because they're of a different race?
Reverse racism is "you can't go to medical school because there are too many white men in the position already." Inverse racism is "my African American comrade! Salaam Salaiyakum and fight the power my brother! Is Farrakhan great or what, happy Kwanzaa my Nubian compatriot!"
It doesn't necessary have to be "in your face" racism but it could be just an attitude or a certain vibe one gets from someone of another race or ethnic group.."
I don't mind people complaining about reverse racism, just as long as they don't use it as an excuse to remain prejudice towards all black people. Please tell me you aren't right? Anyway, like I said in another thread I don't believe white people are hard done by. Has anyone here ever read 'Black Like Me' by John Howard Griffin. Its a pretty interesting read, it generally puts the responsibility on people of either race instead of trying to blame one. I don't know about your situation but as a white person I'd prefer to take responsibility for my own race.
I'm not racist, not by a long shot. I was not allowed into medical school, the fire fighters or the cops because of hiring cutbacks and affirmative action. But to this day I don't blame the Vietnamese, black and Native Canadians who got their places whereas I didn't. However, I will object to a job posting saying "no white males need apply" on principle. Ditto a "no whites" sign in a Chinese mall in Richmond, B.C. And double however, I will not assume that whitefolks are all evil rampaging assholes whereas other cultures and colors are these peaceloving folks. That's utter nonsense, I thought the Jungle Brothers characterising "Mother Africa" as a vegan wholefood paradise ruined by the coming of the white man as ludicrous. This revisionism of history and this "aren't we great" Up with People bullshit leads to further crap down the line. Most people don't realise that the Europeans, half dead of scurvy and outmanned in hostile territory took over the Dark Continent via leveraging its existing slaver tradition. They simply went over to the guy with the biggest headdress and offered him trinkets in exchange for the other tribe. Same with the guy with the biggest headdress on the other tribe. Once enough warriors were gone in chains, they took their trinkets back and clapped the chiefs in irons. Fast Forward, interesting how the music industry finds the most thugged out person in tha hood and offers him Escalades and Crystal in exchange for rapping about killing other blacks and pimping his fellow women. Then, once the inner city starts to turn into a war zone, they quietly take their stuff back from him. If you don't pay attention in history class you're doomed to repeat the same mistakes. We're all villains. Sadly, the last time I used this exact question the answer was "f*ck you you h*nky m*therf*cker white b*tch". *shrugs* I can see how that kind of response would turn some people against people who looked like the people who displayed that level of ignorace, which leads to the ignorance coming around and going around. But thanks kj, we need to have people on all sides asking that question without expecting a good response.
sounds like Canada is far worse than the US in terms of quotas and the overuse of affirmative action! I can't imagine a sign like that being tolerated. That being said, I've never had a single problem with a person from another race..... the only racism I've sat through involves assholes making holocaust jokes..and that seemed to happen mainly in the Seattle area. Oops, forgot about Vancouver, BC where an endless stream of natives said things like "kill the whities, they are like sheep," "you are going to die tonight," etc.
It was for a government job. Yeah, many lefties say whites are the only racists. THIS IS NOT OPEN TO DEBATE etc. Get a grip.
Eh, just the government places and crown corporations mroe than anythign else. Small business owners and suchlike don't have to worry about that crap, but there are requirements from the government for all co's/groups controlled by the government (like cops, firefighters, etc)
I completely get what you mean, but you still display some sort of sentiment that you're 'hard done by'. Noones going to take over your country, there are enough racist white people to stop it happening.
I'm harboring no sentiment of the kind. I'm not worried about anyone taking over the country, either. I'm talking about some of the "racist" issues that usually get ignored. We would crucify someone making racist comments on cable TV - unless it's an African American making crude and inappropriate comments about whites and/or Koreans. Racism is a mind poison, and I would be racist myself if I didn't want to address this poison in ALL human beings, not just the ones that look like me, but thanks for playing. The reason I don't assault a black guy from the hood two blocks down who derides my color is #1 he's wrong - I am not some "cracka" whose grandfather owned his grandfather hence the chip on his shoulder - I arrived very recently and have no connection to any of the history between the cultures here and #2, I can well understand the dude's mindset, being poor, uneducated and treated like crap because of his color, to boot. I won't add to his misery. If I really wanted to be a prick I could talk about how the Moors raided my country with slave ships in the Middle Ages, and where are my reparations?
Im still not convinced. Reverse racism issues don't get ignored. Like I said, there are enough racist white people to spread the word. How is it that politically correct white people as well as black people going to listen to you, when you as the martyr you are want to do us the honourable favour of telling us about these "forgotten issues" Like I have said often before, there are villains and people doing the right thing on both sides...why don't you let the good people do their jobs and join them instead of trying to point out what your 'opposition' is doing to you? EDIT: By the way, I can understand what you mean on a community level. Crime is definitely an issue we should be worried about. So don't think i'm getting on your back for being concerned.
