Damn, sounds like shit got intense. I may have to have a trip with the full album sometime. Ok Computer feels like it's endlessly layered, I'm always hearing stuff I didn't hear on it before or in new ways even sober. There are some cool effects, techniques and time signatures that make it dynamic. I feel like every song on it could be played acoustically and retain the feel and I think alot of the ambience of the music could probably stand on it's own as well, it sounds like songs within songs.
guerillabedlam ^^ Oh man, I stared at your pic thing while coming up, that was intense... Never ending patterns and a talking head that looked like one of the Hindi Gods.. Yeah I would totally reccomend OK Computer actually, I felt it meant more, because to be honest that has always been one of my least favorite albums of theirs even though I liked it. King of Limbs had to have been written while on Acid, or from an experience with Acid. Then the beatles were almost terrifying... Across the Universe when John Lennon sings Nothing's gonna change my world 4 times in the chorus, each one bent differently and sounded like a different person, and all of the backwards tracking, that was insane. Really makes me want to have experienced the 60s now.. I really hope we can have some type of revolution similar to the 60s in the future, or make lsd experiementing legal, that was one of the most interesting experiences of my life... I've been off for I believe 12 hours, I'm not really sure when I would have considered the trip over, but I haven't been able to think of ANYTHING else then what I experienced.
Kid A is f---ing amazing on L! I remember right after that album came out, i'm pretty sure it was rolling stone, that was calling them possibly the heir to pink floyd's thrown!? Now obviously we all know no one can replace Floyd. if you want the true experience you had to have heard it for the first time tripping (which i was lucky enough to have been at the right place, in the right time when the album dropped. but of course, it will always be awesome. just don't wear it out. break it out when the time is right. now don't get me wrong i'm not a die hard radiohead fan or anything but kid a is just.... perfect. treasure p.s. you know what the A stands for right?
Their latest album Moon shaped Poo comes with a bonus wicker basket for throwing it in after you've listened to it once. Another hour of Thom Yorke whimpering. Thanks Radiohead. And with a free bin at the end you can safely dispose of it this time, and free up some additional space in your house for other things, like a book about sparrows for example.
I don't know if you listened to it all that closely, I actually got the impression of it being one of their more optimistic albums.
