My dad used to work with a guy who picked up roadkill of the road and would cook it up and eat it. For REALS. I'm not talking about a deer, that's no biggie. This guy would pick up turtles, opossums, raccoons, squirls, whatever! He'd take them to work and put them in his locker until time to go home. One Friday, he forgot to take a oppossum home. The following Monday, well, you can imagine what the locker room smelled like. I guess it took a long time to get rid of the stench.
awww  Ive never killed anything ever. poor little thing. a puppy got hit in front of my house when it was playing across the fence from all my babes. i didnt see it but my sister told me about it. Ive jumped out of cars to save puppies from the street.
i hit a deer at night once. worst part was we both noticed eachother at the same time, had direct eye contact from a distance of about two feet and both tried to get out of the way. next thing i know i haven't got a driver side mirror and in the rearview i see him tumbling backwards behind me also once when delivering pizzas i didnt notice a duck sitting in the road until too late. tried to swerve and heard a thunk. when i drove off i looked in the mirror and it was upside down, slowly waving its webbed feet around in the air i dont like to think about this.
Everytime I see a deer on the side of the road I wonder whether it was still alive after being hit and if it could have been taken to the animal hospital to be saved instead of slowly dying in agony. I mean, at least small animals probably (hopefully) die right away.
i've actually considered purchasing a firearm to keep in the trunk of my car for situations like that. i would absolutely hate to do that, but honestly if it can't even move....if you took it to the vet it would just be put down anyway. this way would be quicker
i don't really freak out over running over small, rodentlike animals. there's plenty of them. i do hope they're dead right away, but my main worry is the damage to my car. i won't swerve to avoid hitting the little ones, either. i don't wanna cause a wreck, and i'm not known for my mad driving skills. all that said, it's probably why i drive like an old lady. i don't WANT to hit anything, for selfish and practical reasons.
definitely not me. and should i swerve to avoid a squirrel and cause a crash that injures someone, i'll feel like the ugliest busted dildo ever. can you imagine? you swerve and hit a child? you swerve and wreck into another car? or hell...you swerve and wreck your own car for a small animal?
I know, that would be bad. But I don't know, I'm just more sensitive to hurting animals than hurting humans, I know it's terrible - and I don't mean I don't care either, but I'm really sensitive with animals. Like, if there's a dog that dies in a movie - I cry, but people get killed in movies and I'm okay with it..
My cats used to try and stalk squirrles but one of em must have hooked into one cause they quit stalking squirrels. I tried to tell em if they hooked one, they'd be in for the ride of their life
oh, that's natural. we're used to watching people kill each other or die in movies. we're inured to it. i haven't cried over a dead animal on the road since i was a kid, and it was MY CAT.. except this one little black kitten in ignacio, colorado. but, honestly, that was some fucked up shit and not at all fast. but i have NO DOUBT whatsoever that you would take killing or hurting a person with your car much harder than you would an animal. no doubt.
