After I dealt with that company yesterday, they said they would send replacements for free and emailed instructions. We looked them over and realized that a bunch of large screws and some other stuff is missing from the original shipment and their design to hang the track is shitty at best and unworkable at worst. My wife sent them another email telling them about the missing parts and design issues and she asked them to not send replacements.....just send return packaging and refund our money.

Then today....the best experience with this company so far....they emailed back, apologizing profusely and told us they would refund 100% of our money but they would not be sending return packaging. Instead, we can keep it for free or toss it. They are writing it off as a loss and going after the shipping company for breaking it (which isn't really fair because their packaging was clearly the issue).

Now I kind of feel a little bad because I really wasn't trying to get something for free....especially not from a small-time operator. But the fact is that it went down the way it did and none of that was our fault and we never asked for anything for free. We only wanted what we paid for. So a friend and I are going to redesign it and make it work. He can weld and fabricate anything else we need to get the job done.

A friend asked me if it was a Chinese company but this stuff was custom made in Salt Lake City.

A design flaw that you will probably just shake your head over.....the track hangs over the door and is attached with fairly long, thick screws. But it has to be away from the wall so there are spacers that are 2 inches long made from 1 inch metal tube. That will keep the track 2 inches from the wall and you won't see the screw since it's inside the tube. Fine....except....what centers the screw in the tube? There is nothing inside the tube to center the screw. Are you just supposed to let the tube hang on the screw or do you get the screw almost all the way it and then center the tube just before you crank down the screw? That won't work because as soon as you hang the doors on the track, the weight will pull down and force the tube into the drywall. That's fucking stupid.

I think the solution is going to be to get another piece of metal like the track and weld the spacers between that and the track and then use my drill press to drill the holes through both pieces. That should be a little better.

10:30 at night on the day your sales tax filing is due is the perfect time to remember to do it. It's even better if the system doesn't recognize your password and locks you out for 30 minutes. Then you can try again at 11 and bitch about it on a message board while you wait. Sigh.

And now they are "experiencing technical difficulties" which means I am going to have to pay a 10% penalty if the shit isn't done before midnight. Fuck. I might bitch about this but...really...I could have done this two or three weeks ago.

I bet everyone else who waited is also feeling the same way. :)

Same thing happens here with filing income tax at the last minute on line, dead space.

I've just gotta say, Wiz...that barn door for a bedroom door sounds like an immense amount of trouble, and that is even getting all the stuff intact AND the required pieces to do it with...but then both you and wifey are young enough not to mind going through all that :) Having a friend that can/will weld, fabricate and etc etc so that y'all can have this most special door doesn't hurt. ;)

I will always be happy with a solid door that closes all the way and then opens all the way. :D

I'd be happy with a solid door too. But I'm not in charge of such things. I just want to get laid. I don't care what kind of door it takes.

Oh, I wanted to thank you BBAD for that link to ear candling...for all of my looking up stuff I somehow managed to not go to wikipedia and look at their info.

I still want to do it (lol) but I'm still glad I read it. That will give me more questions to ask...you can read that as I now have more things to ask and annoy them with. :D

Germany is exporting a lot of beer to the US too, didn't read anything about Canada but probably as well (that's after all what would make it tempting to fake german beer) :p The biggest suprise for me was that Mexico of all countries has become the biggest beer exporter in the world.

It's sometimes funny and remarkable how this can differ per person. I have the same with wine ( although not because I over indulged in it as a teen :p). Actually, beer is pretty much the only alcoholic beverage I really enjoy, certainly the only on a regular basis.

What I've learned over the years......I don't care at all about materialistic things....just do the shit she wants you to do with her and do the tasks she wants you to get done. What I want is good food, good beer, pussy, freedom to do things I enjoy once in a while and not a lot of debate about shit that I don't care about to begin with.

What my wife has learned over the years.....my husband is never going to go shopping with me but he will take care of me, feed him, let him drink his beer, fuck him, let him go kayaking and go with him all over the country to see the Grateful Dead and other bands......and I can pretty much do whatever I want with no debate whatsoever.

    See? It's perfect! ;)

(That's obviously a very simplified version of reality) :)

I guess I'm going to go to work today....and by work, I mean I'm going to go stand there and supervise while drinking coffee and bullshitting with the customer.

But then I'm going to come home and my main squeeze and I are going to take the tandem kayak to the river. I'm going to take her to a part of the river she hasn't been on yet and we're going to bring food and a propane burner with us and have dinner on a sand bar in the middle of nowhere. It's going to be perfect.

And there are hummingbirds in the yard and I've already got laid twice this morning (too much information...I know). This is going to be a good day!

Ok....I'm out. Have a nice day, everyone!

Yesterday over at the ReStore near my Dad's place I found a pair of nearly new MTD mower blades, not for my mower but I figured they would bolt up and clear everything. Put them on today and they work better than original.

    Two bucks each.
