We took our little dog out in the kayak for the first time today. I was a little worried about how she would be on the boat for that long. She handled it like a champ.....a very daring champ. She's so small that she can walk on the edge of the boat to get from the front to the back or vice versa. She fell in the water twice and nearly fell in a few other times but she didn't seem bothered much by it. She kept going from being super interested in everything, playing on sand bars, falling in the water, etc to taking a short nap on my lap and then waking up and doing it all over again. (We had her leash/harness on her in the boat just in case she fell in....good thing too....we just fished her back out right away)

    Oh God Y'all!

The toilet in my bathroom ran over this morning and flooded my bedroom too. I spent the morning vacuuming up what water I could, then I took the triplets to their cousins b'day party.

When I got home I started trying my best to cut the carpet and take it out in pieces. It and the pad have got to be thrown away. I'm cutting from the back with a razor knife but then I have to take big shears and cut the wool. It's looped Berber carpeting. The pad is easy to just tear up because it's poly.

Jesus Christ, I'm working as hard as I can and barely making a dent in the take up. My hand hurts. My shoulder hurts.

I just had a big boo hoo.

This shit is dripping wet and at the rate I'm going it's going to take me all week to get it out of the one room. This job really is too big for me.

Hubby kept telling me that he'd get around to fixing the toilet and that was something I couldn't do. We've had the parts for months.

Then he yelled at me and threw shit all around his room because I asked him to go into his former room and find the carpet shears for me.

    Fuck that asshole.

I need a hawk-bill to cut this fucking carpet with.

I don't even want to ask if we have anymore razor blades for that knife.

When he didn't want to get up and get the shears for me, I called him a sorry ass and he called me a ****.

I just really don't want the rest of this job to go that way.

Because it's dripping wet and I'm not strong enough to take it out all at once.

I have a feeling because she is the only who can do things and that is a heavy job for any person alone.

Sorry to read all this Aeri [IMG]

    Thanks, Heather.

Yes. It's going to be too heavy for me to lift into the trash bins as it is and I didn't even completely fill the 70 gallon trash bag. I had to drag it out of the house. This stuff is heavy when it's this saturated.

I know you want to get it done but be careful about that as the weight and position you have to be in to rip it out is going to be hard on your body. :(

Water damage makes such a mess.

I wish you lived close enough for me to bring some guys to come and help you. I totally would and I'd tell your husband to shut his fucking mouth if he isn't going to be part of the solution.

I'm trying to think of an easy way to cut carpet. I think leverage is the answer. Longer handles. Do you have a pair of those hedge clippers that look like huge scissors? Something like that might work. It doesn't need to be pretty.

Are there some local kids who could help? They may do it just for the challenge. Or the Mormon's...that sounds crazy but my old neighbor had his basement flooded and he asked them to help. They came and helped him out for free. Not a fan of religion but...I have to give them credit for that.

I'm sitting on a low stool because my knee won't let me get up and down off the floor. Getting off the low stool is no picnic but it's better than trying to bend over for the whole job.

It cuts pretty easily one way and I don't have to go back through it with the shears. It's just the cross way that requires that so I'm making those short cuts, like about 18 inches.

My son would help but he has about 30 girls coming for softball tryouts tomorrow. That's a big deal so I'm not going to bother him.

I did ask hubby to sit down and vacuum the sub-floor which is still standing with water after I removed the carpet and pad. He did.

    I'm on dinner break now.

What was that going to be about?

There is a string of car break-ins in my town lately......like....lots of cars. They started on the north side and have been working south. Despite this knowledge.....at least two of my neighbors, my wife and my son all have their cars looted last night. It's probably kids. They are only taking money (mostly change and no pennies) and smokes. They have been leaving ipods, phones and other valuable things. Fuckers. They probably tried my doors on my Jeep but I keep it locked.
