How long is your hair, Rolling?

He is not one of mine.

The little boy is the son of a dear friend. The boys uncle was killed in a motorcycle crash before he was born. The uncle was to be my son-in-law once upon a time. The whole family is very dear to me.

    It's an MTD...

The 2166 is a Garden Tractor with Lawn Tractor tires/wheels. (It can be converted to a GT with a wheel swap which I may end up doing) Hydro rear end is the same throughout the 2000 series and it has a driveshaft instead of a belt drive. Kind of odd to design a "higher end" tractor and down grade it to widen your market base but that seems to be what they did with these. Smaller engine, (16HP instead of 18HP) smaller wheels, 42 inch deck instead of the 46" or 50", call it a LT and get more buyers... The larger engine is a bolt on too.

Still an MTD but it has it's pluses too. Present mower is an MTD also and working well... For what it's worth, mowing is all about blade speed and I'd rather not be spinning a 60's or 70's single cylinder flathead engine at full RPM for several hours at a stretch... Yeah they are better built tractors and torquey as hell but I don't want to kill one mowing. So I have an early 70's John Deere and the WoodRat for the heavy stuff... MTDs for mowing.

The AYP/Ranch King would have been the better mower, and some day I'll probably get that running. But for now I would have to put more $$$ into fixing that and still have unknown issues, than I'm paying for the Cub...

@rolling.... This place tears up socks for some reason.

No, I was out visiting my Father... Which entails a bunch of driving and sitting around talking at his place. So I was actually inside most of the time.

I did stop and look at the Cub on the way home with the sellers permission, hope to get it home on Sunday. That seemed to be my only out door time today.

Had a good practice tonight. Haven't been playing like we normally do lately with all of the other things going on over the last few months. Just here and there. It took a few songs to knock the rust off for me but once that happened....it's like collectively riding a bike. It was nice to get at least one practice in since we have a show next weekend by ourselves so...8 or 9 until...??? Maybe 1 or 2 a.m. Almost all of our shows used to be that long for a long time but in the last 4-5 years we've been playing with other bands a lot more often and I guess we've come to enjoy watching the other bands and only playing for an hour or an hour and a half. I personally still like the nights we play alone because we have so much more time to stretch out a little on stage and jam and experiment. An hour isn't really a lot of time to do that.

I'll tell you guys something that has been weighing heavily on my mind lately....if I'm just blogging here. Training the kid. It's constantly in the back of my mind on any job site. I understand why my wife doesn't want details. I do. But if he is going to be out there and he wants to learn the job...I don't want anyone else to teach him...but...to be honest....it's a lot for me to watch too and I'm used to it. Just when I thought I'd seen everything...this comes along and I don't know what I think about it myself. I'm really proud of him so I guess all I can do is make sure he's trained well. I and every single dude I've ever trained are still alive so we must be doing something right but when it's your own kid.....he does so well right now but I sometimes wish he'd just go back to college.

I guess I'm going to go out for breakfast by myself again this morning. No biggie but I have no idea why my wife and daughter never want to go. I love going out for breakfast on Saturday morning. Maybe they just don't like the place I go to. <shrug>

Nobody wants to go through the trouble you (we women) go to when you go out and eat...if its just for breakfast on the weekend. That's the time to sleep in AND not worry about how you look in the morning. lol

    That's the deal there, Wiz...

I'm posting before I go to work at 3. I've been off for 4 days and I haven't missed it for one iota of a second.

I cannot wait until I can draw retirement.

The Cali-men are visiting Atlanta today ( [IMG] )

My daughter decided to go with me but only after I agreed to go to a different place than I normally go. Either place is fine with me. I left my phone at home as to not have any distractions during breakfast with my girl. Eggs, hash browns, wheat toast and biscuits and gravy! And I was making her laugh so hard that she said her stomach was starting to hurt from it. :)
