Could be... Steel is fine on this, paint is just flaking off and where it has is surface rust but no pitting. Being a mower it doesn't get road salt though... Just rain/snow/sun. Thing has always sat outside

Anyways, got it running and it's not flooding, it's that same "dirty carb" surging... The seller was not a mechanical wizard of any sort. (the word clueless comes to mind) Fresh gas and some treatment has made it much better. Still should be rebuilt. (the carb) and the whole mower gone over but the engine and rear transaxle are strong. Last fire up I got it to run at medium speed without the choke, that's a good sign. Mower deck does spin and cut... Blades are okay. Electric PTO works and the deck drive belt is new... Lower deck belt is.... ??? Okay for now I guess.

Tires will need "something"... I ended up having to mount the Ranch King front tires on the Cub Cadet rims... Back Cub tires have good tread. All 4 tires are holding air at the moment but have cracks. I may try "Slime" but could end up foam filled or tubed. If I use tubes they will have to be "slime" tubes because of these thorns... I donno. Seems once you foam fill these things you would never get the tires off, so new wheels and tires down the road. I was considering new back wheels and tires anyways because the 12" wheels are a bolt-on. Fronts wouldn't be that hard to find in the future. What I do now has to be cheap and I guess temporary...

For all it's "less than perfect" qualities, it's a good tractor/mower.... Feels solid compared to the MTD Yard Machines, bigger too... but size makes the Yard Machines perfect for getting into the woods. It's why this place needs two mowers. If I had a welder I'd adapt the 46" Ranch King mower deck to the Cub...

Those new tires for the WoodRat really made the deal though. :D (no photos yet... )

Unfortunately, we did not get rained out. Emergency call from the power company this afternoon. Huge willow tree partially uprooted and burning on a 3 phase power line. Some branches were already burned off by the time we got there. Too dangerous for anyone to climb, too far away and down in a ravine to reach it with a bucket truck. I called in and said the line needs to be killed and dropped....like...right now. They had a crew on the road in less than 5 minutes. How's that for service?

So we all had to stay out late, in the rain, down in a muddy ravine with a creek running through it so we could get the lines down, drop the tree and hang the lines back up before anyone could go home.

I guess we're ahead on hours for the week.

2 year ago I called hydro and asked them to come check a tree that was about to fall on my property....told them if I do the cut it is going over onto their lines

they sent buddy out...he said he will send a crew to cut it....which he did.they only cut it until it was small enough it wouldn't hit the line

    about half

Sometimes we'll do it that way. Sometimes we'll take the whole thing down. It kind of depends on the situation and customer. It's mostly my discretion.

But yeah...we are the power companies guys. That's how I can get guys on the way so quickly. I don't call the 1-800 number and go through all that. We're all communicating from crew to crew...to exactly who we need to talk to.

It was close to 90 degrees here today...way too hot so soon...I have no idea why every time I see a map of NY and the weather....where I live is always the hottest temps, usually.....hotter here than anywhere else in Eastern NY today.......this kind of hot drains the life out of me........I am not ready for it to be this hot yet.

On my upcoming days off I'm going to rot-proof my stumps. They've been turned up on the sides and have dried sufficiently (for me and this job) for the sealing-painting to begin.

I'll be visiting Lowe's and looking for something to put the stumps on. That was an excellent suggestion, Ty. :)

I'm also going to plant some petunias and some thyme in the new area of maybe 10 square feet more sun (ha) that opened up from the departed linden.

There's a wee little green branch coming off that base about 6 feet up. :daisy:

Dad said on Sunday that he has a toenail that is coming off. He called the podiatrist for an appointment yesterday and let me know that his appointment was at 2:45 this afternoon (I am his driver). About an hour and a half later he called to say they changed the appointment to 1pm. Then around four he called again to say they changed the appointment to 2:30. Why do doctor's think that they can just jerk people around like that? I just gave up on any of my afternoon plans.

That is not good....not good at all. Something disturbing enough about the energy in that area to keep birds out. Ever read anything about "lay lines" and such?

The place that I had in California was on a Ley Line....

This place I have now, I'm not sure what's going on... There's energy here, a lot of it, but it's hard to describe.
