If you have boards you are wanting to dry slowly so they don't split on the ends dip the ends in melted paraffin wax about 1". This will seal the ends and cause the board to lose it's water/moisture through the sides and face instead of the ends. If you are doing this with multiple boards you need to stack them with thin sticks between them so moisture can escape between the boards. (this stacking method is called "stickering" or "stickered") It will take longer to season but it will be in a very controlled fashion and they will last for ages.

That's what we do now in the kiln. We don't wax the ends but we stack them properly. That isn't too bad but when you get into the really big stuff (which I haven't yet), then you have to think about sealing the ends. The guys on my other related message board seal the ends with roofing tar and then cut the ends off later. But we haven't had many issues with the smaller stuff so far.

It is thundering and lightening here...I need to get off this computer and unplug it. Of ALL the things I don't want to have electricity shoot through and "kill", this computer is the main thing.

When I got home from hell, I mean work...it had rained here and it hadn't even sprinkled a drop at work...which is just 4 miles away.

So, I'm going to post in the thread where I get a painting (lol), and then I'm going to be all mature and adult and sign off.

 

I've always thought that would be a fun thing to try but I won't. Our guitar guy is so awesome at what he does that I would feel silly even trying to do something like that. It's such a precise and special talent. I have a feeling that him looking at me trying to build a guitar would be like me looking at customers who screw up tree work and then call me. I just shake my head. He would do that with me trying to build a guitar. He would say "Do you understand why I build your guitars and you don't?" Yeah....I know.

 

Been In My New House Just Over 6 Months And I Thought It Was About Time I

Turned The Spa On Just To See If It Worked.

After Bleeding All The Air Out Of The System The Water Jets Worked OK But I

Couldn't Get The Air Blower To Work Unless I Went Outside And Blew Into The Pressure

Switch However It Would Turn Off Using The Switch On The Spa.

Decided To Give Up On That And Go To Town But Before I Drained It I Couldn't Resist

Throwing In Some Washing Up Liquid To Freshen It Up A Bit, Then I Pulled The Drain

Plug And When It Was Almost Empty I Decided To Work The Air Switch A Few Times To

See If It Was Just Sticking Or Totally Faulty.......Well You Guessed It The Switch Finally

Worked And With Almost No Water In The Spa There Was About 2 Feet Of Bubbles

And With All The Jets Blasting Out Air, Bubbles Were Blown All Over The En-Suite,

From Wall to Wall And GLEN Inclusive, There Is A Prediction Of Snow Forcast Here But

It Makes No Mention Of It Snowing INDOORS......

My shell lasagna was the best ever tonight.....
Seems we had no spring here this year....right into summer......almost 90 degrees every day.....but ina few days, I hear it may cool down a bit to normal spring temps...I hope so...This is too hot so early.....feels like July and august here already.

 

How did it get to be this already? I was going to go upstairs and watch jersey Boys tonight....and here is is already past 3.....dammit......lol

 

rain woke me up....I cancelled my sat tv service....gonna register my box at a friends house and just split her bill....turns out the sat cannot tell which house the boxes are in so one house can have upto 3 primary boxes that will then work anywhere there is already a satellite dish

 

that is great news for you....

about being able to get TV...not that the rain woke you up.
I never get to sleep anymore before 4 or 5 am.

saw my other new friend today jogging....not Sabrina....but Jill...She is a very beautiful black lady in her 40's.....gorgeous...she looks like a model. She was supposed to email me tonight and didn't, so i am disappointed about that....I like her....as a new friend....she comes from 45 minutes away by car to be at the park where I jog. I think she is trying to meet a nice man there...but I am not sure about that yet or what that is all about...was hoping to chat with her some more tonight via email.

she has my email, but I don't have hers yet...i don';t bring any pens, paper, cell phones, etc with me...i am tied up with dogs and a pouch around my waist with plastic bags to pick up dog crap in it....all I bring...and a key to the house in the pouch.

 

Well, good night....I am off to watch something....and hopefully have some more neat dreams when I do fall asleep. I have been having some really cool dreams lately....

farmer couldn't of planned this better....all the fields sewn in time for a huge storm and then right into a week of sunshine

I think I am day tripping again today.....off to sisters but not sure when yet

 

Weather people said we got 60-80 mph straight line winds before the storm that swept through last night. No tornado in my area. Columbus had a lot of trees and wires down. I did not notice any of that around when I was out earlier, so I guess we just got the heavy rains.

 

hardly rained at all here.

 

Been perfect here lately...sunshine all morning and day, then evening shower.
