    And trees are back outside.

Didn't get a chance to sprout those 50+ acorns I collected last year. I needs that greenhouse.

I have a hard enough time moving plants around. I cannot imagine moving trees around.

Didn't do that big tree today. Last Saturday, we couldn't do it because he said the power company won't take the line down on the weekend (a condition for the price I gave him). As stated above, now we have to lose our normal hours to go do this tree. I wasn't thrilled but if it's not in his control....I'll still help him out. So this morning the lineman shows up to drop the service. We were talking about power lines, etc. and I happened to say that this was supposed to be a weekend deal if not for the situation with the service. The guy actually got a little irritated on our behalf and told me that he talked to the customer about this twice. It's not that they won't do it....it's that they won't do it for free on the weekend. He just doesn't want to pay to have it done.

So I'm supposed to lose 10-11 hrs (at minimum...if everything goes perfectly) of our regular billing so this guy doesn't have to pay a couple of hundred bucks to fulfill his end of the deal? Fuck that. I told him to call someone else. We got it relatively safe for now. I'm not losing that much money just because he wants to save himself a little. That wasn't the deal.

Went to see my daughters Honors Choir performance as part of a larger children's choir festival this evening. Good times.

Also, got a phone call from a different tree company asking me what the deal is with that tree (most of us all know each other). I told him the history and said he could put a crane on it pretty easily if he wanted. He sided with me and said he thought it was a shitty move from the customer. But I think he's going to do the tree. He told the guy it would be $1700-$1900 more than I was charging. I guess the dude was like...yeah, sounds fine....let's do it.

So he saves $100 and then spends $1900 more...

    Sounds logical.

Pretty much. He really shouldn't have to be spending what he's spending but now he's dealing with the most expensive guys around. Aside from our high voltage credentials...they're pretty much right on par with us but a little more expensive. We're probably the two most expensive around but you get what you pay for, I guess. There are a lot of cheaper hacks who will never show up or will drop a log through your roof. But some of the cheaper guys are still good and some should be able to do this tree for him. I don't know why they don't want the job. The guy really should get more bids like I told him to do to start with. The way it looks right now...you could buy a decent car for what he's going to spend on this tree.

That is something about the power company not coming out on a weekend for free...that is the one single solitary thing I can say about this place here/where I live...when the tree fell here (on a Saturday) and there have been other weekend times the power was out due to sleet bringing lines down, etc...the power company here never ever charges a single dime for coming out and taking down the lines to the house, or to any house that I've ever heard of.

And griping about paying out a cent that should be paid is common to many people that I know. :D

I guess our power company figures we (and everybody) pay every month for service, and I know "maintenance fees" are included in this.

But no...that dude should not have lied, especially since it seems that was a lie that would easily be found out. lol stupidass

He probably goes to the local McD's drive-thru late at night for coffee and/or a tea. :p

If a tree falls on a line in a storm or something, most power companies will be there for free 24/7 to at least restore power. But if you want to set up a scheduled service call on a weekend, most power companies are going to charge for that. I'm well-aware of that. But this guy made it sound like they wouldn't come out at all (and I took him at his word because I used to work there and I know they won't do a lot of things that they would do 20+ years ago). I'm sure when he called the other guys his story probably threw up a red flag to them because they know there must be more to it for us to walk away so they called me directly. So he will get his work done but that was a costly little stunt.

cut these vines in the back. when its quiet at night you can hear them bleeding drip drip drip,,, so in the sun yesterday, I was watching the ants collect the sugars the vines water drops to the ground. some of the vines are thicks like tree tunks, just sucking up the water from the ground.

I cut through some 4-5 inch thick poison ivy vines this past winter... I haven't been back to check on them. They normally stump sprout like crazy.

I did drive through that area yesterday, checking the governor on the WoodRat and it looks trashed over there. I gotta do a major cleanup and more brushing. All the honeysuckle I did cut is sprouting like mad.

Chilly and rainy today... Don't feel like doing much outside. Tomorrow I need to get back to putting in those fence posts. Today I've been in the garage working on the WoodRat, not heated out there but at least it's out of the wind.
