There are 9 fence posts in the ground... Two of them are end posts. That's 100 foot of fence across a 150 foot span. Each end will get some kind of gate or final... haven't decided yet.

I need to go lay down if Erin and Spooky let me...

My wife knows I'm an agnostic but a fan of the "historical" Jesus...assuming he existed. So she bought me a portrait at a second-hand store. Evidently, they have quite the sense of humor. They attached these "bug eyes". The second pic is the flash-washed moment of a miracle!! I love Jesus. He makes me happy and obviously meant to amuse me this evening. He would think this is funny. :)

Other than what I cut with the mower the last few days, no. I haven't even started on any major brushing.

You should buy some Tordon RTU before you get started with the major stuff. It's about $14/qt. at you local farm co-op. But a little bit goes a long way. A quart will last you a little while. Start cutting and spraying that shit now before it seeds. Now is the time to hammer it.

Hasn't even flowered yet, it's just begun to leaf out. This will be an ongoing project around here. There's no getting rid of it, it's all about controlling it. I'll look for that Tordon stuff.

The Tordon RTU is "ready to use". That means you don't have to mix it. You can buy the regular Tordon (under various labels) but you will probably need a spray license to buy it. The application on normal stumps is to spray the cambium layer of the tissue...which is near the edge. You just spray about a 1 inch ring around the outside of the stump. But the huckleberry is usually small enough that you can just cover the cut and be done with it. Kill it now.

Out of 8.25 acres there is probably 4 or more with major honeysuckle problems... Adjacent properties are also full of it. There is no "kill it now" possible. I have to get in firewood, I have to mow several days a week every week, I have garden spaces to control, there's major work needed on the house, I have to repair and maintain my equipment, cleaning/laundry/cooking/whatever... need I go on?

I'm one guy, there is no crew, no spouse, no help at all, I do what I can. If all I did all summer was kill honeysuckle I still wouldn't get it all and none of the above would have been done. I'm not blowing this off... I just don't think you have a grasp on what all I am involved with here. Yes, I need to do some brushing but it's not my main issue, there's way to much on my plate across the board for a shrub to become top priority.

Not wanting to sound harsh, but you haven't seen what I'm up against here.

Actually, I have a very firm understanding of what you're up against. We deal with it all the time. I did not mean to belittle what you're doing in any way, I apologize if you think I meant anything less than helpful advice.

No offence taken... It's just that most people aren't flying by the seat of their pants 24/7, so they don't know what it's like. No body really knows what's happening up here and what I'm going through. What I post about here on the fourms isn't even a small percentage of one of my typical days. I've taken on a task that I doubt many people with good health would dare handle by themselves. Somehow I'mma gonna do this... somehow. I do appreciate all the help you've given me, man. Really...

Likely it's gonna go back to nature as it was starting to do when I found it... Hopefully it will be an "improved" nature with less of the invasive species. Maybe someone else will get it and continue what I've started. (actually, the original owner started it, the second owners let it all fall apart) If I can get on the National Registry of Historic Places then maybe a preservation society would make sure it's kept the way it should have been all along.

If you google "Jack Kline, architect, Ohio"... I have one of his first designs. It's gotta be worth something. (and I'm not using the word "worth" meaning monetary value, it's historic value) This is besides the spiritual value of this property.

I have one of those... ;)

Hello. The engineer said what to do to fix the land bridge.....The do everything guy that took two of the pugs from us for some work here is fixing the bridge. He has been with us for quite awile looked at the bridge and said the same thing the engineer said without knowing what the engineer said....so our do it all guy just finished part A of the project. It is nice to know, Randy and co. have been experts all along, as well.
Now, why wasn't Randy called in the first place for bridge?

    I'd like to know.
