My stepfather walked out on my 73 yr. old mother and took the Abraham Lincoln painting I gave her for Christmas.

Tell the dog for every snake he kills, we will execute two squirrels in retaliation.

I'm REALLY hoping that once she gets past the hurt/shock phase, this'll be for the best.

Once in a while, you get shown the light...in the strangest places, if you look at it right.

I stopped by a couple of garage sales this evening hoping to find a drill press. Pretty unlikely but...why not check? The first one didn't have anything I was interested in but there were 3 little girls selling Kool-Aid. I told them "I don't think I want any Kool-Aid but...I'll tell you what....since you three young ladies look like you really like Kool-Aid...I'll buy one for each of you to have." I gave them the money and they looked shocked but happy. I don't know what was so shocking but whatever.

I left and went to the next garage sale. There was a drill press. Older, metal, not too big or heavy.....exactly what I was looking for. $20! What are the odds?

Probably a total coincidence but sometimes I like to think that two events like that might be cosmically related somehow. Good karma. Who knows?

Got to do some comedy this evening in front of people who don't know me. I stopped by a friends house and there were some guys there drinking a few beers. This friend is one of my best friends and one of the people I try out jokes on. So he convinced me to throw some material out there. I have to say....it was a confidence booster. I know I can make friends laugh but....can I make people who don't know me laugh? I answered that this evening. These guys were nearly falling out of their chairs a few times and one actually spit some of his beer out....which...of course...I made fun of him for.

It was a fun time but....my friends wife may have chuckled one time. She did not think I was amusing at all. These guys are dying and she's sitting there...almost without any reaction at all. But I kind of learned something on the fly....you're going to have to ignore the people who aren't laughing and focus on the people who are. Just like being a musician. Not everyone is going to like you. But I even made a joke out of her not being amused. :)

Anyway....those guys wanted my buddy to tell them when I was going to go on stage in the future because they want to be there and said they were going to tell all their friends to go too. Maybe a half a dozen times...one of them was like....holy shit...I'm totally stealing that shit to use later. There is still much work to do but tonight showed me that I can actually do it.

2 damns right now....the doxycycline won't get here until possibly Wednesday next week. It is being shipped from the vet's pharmacy source, and that bothers me....meanwhile....the lyme's disease is setting in here with the pugs and I have no idea how long they have had lyme's...and I cannot help them right now.....SHIT!

Also, I went to another sale earlier and they had the most beautiful furniture...damn i wanted the french provincial set....2 pink velvet couches on white curved wood and 2 dressers in the white and gold. I grew up with this type of furniture as my mom decorated my childhood room that way and this stuff speaks to me........but i have no damn truck to get it......and it is pretty far away and I racked my brain all night trying to figure out a way to get it here...damn damn damn....i want to put this all in my room upstairs and I am upset......SHIT!

I had a French Provincial bedroom suite as a child. I sold it after I moved into this house. I never really liked it.

My mom also had the French Provincial in her bedroom when I was growing up. It still sits in her bedroom in the last house she had. One of my brothers lives there now. Mom's been gone 8 years. I'm not attached to that furniture at all.

I like my grandmother's Mahogany set that was in her guest room. That's in Mom's house too. When Grandmomma died, mother got that suite for me because she knew I always loved it.

I've seen some re-painted French Provincial that I like. If I end up with that suit I may paint it.

    Something like this [IMG]

That french provincial does not look like the french provincial I know.....
My mom loved mahagony...I have her prized pieces here......mainly in a room where no pets are allowed upstairs...which was my doll room, but now it just storage for mostly her furniture.....My bedroom upstairs has a couple of the early french provincial pieces I had as a child....and white book cases.... a bed....and another huge mahogany piece of my mom's I had nowhere else to put it....room is kind of not all matched now....but those rooms have become storage....Stan has his room full of sports shit...dressers....tv and everything under the sun in there.....other bedroom is ok....and matches...
Downstairs...front room is Asian, Finnish themed sort of with alot of orange and green things....this library is big wood pieces......so nothing is continnuum really....each room is a different feel...downstairs bathroom here is the beach, ocean theme....

Overcast and cool here... Got up, heated some leftover coffee, went out and sat on the front patio garden with the deer.

Yesterday's visit to Goodwill netted a pair of cushions for the two chairs on the front patio...

French provincial would look ridiculous in this house... I don't really like Mid-Century Modern furniture either, other than the built-in stuff that's already here.
