No problem. Thanks for the input. Someone came and fixed it today.

Funny story....we have a friend who always seems to be in the right place at the right time for our circle of friends. We always joke around about "Paul to the rescue!" Thus far, I have never been the beneficiary of his timing. But today we were out in the middle of nowhere and blew a trailer tire (pretty big tire actually). I didn't want to leave the trailer so I decided to call the service truck to come fix it. As I'm on the phone, a truck pulls up and out jumps Paul who said "Looks like you need a spare tire!" I was thinking "No fucking way!" He actually had the right tire, a generator, an electric impact wrench and a floor jack.

I told my wife about that and she laughed her ass off. It's uncanny. How the hell does that happen?

saw a mobile home once on the side of the highway....the moving crew had abandonned it while they went to search for more axles....they blew the tires so bad it bent the axles and left gouges on the road pavement

A guy I know got in touch with me today about some tree trimming he wants done. He texted me a few pics and made it clear that he needs this work done "ASAP!" Real nice guy and all but it's like...dude...this is a safe branch that hangs slightly over your fucking pool! This does not qualify as an emergency situation in my line of work.

In all fairness though...a lot can be lost in short texts. Maybe he meant "I'd like to have it done as soon as you can get to it". But I had to laugh because I read it like it was impending doom.

Maybe. But I'll get it taken care of for him because he's the manager of the parts store and usually hooks me up with discounts. So if he can wait until we have time...maybe a week or two...we'll do it for basically nothing and then I will probably ensure that I get the best price for parts every time and I spend spend a few bucks on parts and repairs every year. Some of us know...but many don't...that there are different prices depending on whether it's cash retail, an account, a mechanic shop account, etc. Something that costs $300 can possibly cost 20-30% less if you know the right guy.

But that made me laugh earlier. Serious business! :)

"Paul to the rescue" is probably actually an angel and not human at all.

I should say...he didn't actually have all that stuff in the truck when he stopped but he was on his way back from fixing one of his dump trucks on the interstate so we went back to his shop (all the way back in town) where he had the tire, etc. It would have been even more impressive if he just happened to have all that stuff in his truck though. But I'm not complaining.

It would have been a t.v. series if he'd had all that stuff in the back of his truck.

"Paul To The Rescue" with a little halo and wings somewhere in the name, lol

But that's really almost what we mean when we say "Paul to the rescue". The guy is just there. The wives were out on the town a few months ago and had a flat tire. It was pretty cold out and Paul just happened to be about 10 miles away....50 miles from where we all live. He was there in a few minutes to change the tire and the girls stayed warm in the car. This is the kind of thing that makes all of my friends get free tree work. You can't even charge the guy after everything he does for our friends. Plus, I don't want to make money off my friends anyway. It's a good group of friends. I guess it all balances out.
