Supposed to hit 90 today... and humid. Gotta finish mowing because they are saying rain for the next week or so... Still designing and building garden spaces too. Getting close on that/those projects. I'm exhausted though.



I still haven't installed the screens on the windows yet, but all the doors have screens so it's plenty of air movement the way it is.

 

Not sure exactly but I am pretty sure here I would keep dry feet, as the city center of Groningen is build on somewhat higher ground, and enough land inwards and on the east side (although pretty north, where lots of land is below sea level so it could reach the area theoretically). But the sea is not so high that it is pressuring the dykes When it would get that bad and a dyke would break lots of places in the north and west of the Netherlands could potentially be fucked (all depending on where it would break, it's not like the whole country floods after one breach ). I don't see any breach happening soon though
But yeah, other areas where I am every week as well are at least a meter below sea level, like the town I grew up in. When you see the countryside there you can still see where the oldest farms/towns were at as they still are slightly higher than the surrounding lands. It is easily pictured (by me at least ) how the sea of grasslands turned into a real sea of water and those artificial hills turned into green islands (it is speculated people started living in this crappy situation before there were dykes because the clay and water made this very good land for cow and sheep farming, besides that you could easily catch all kinds of sea food at low tide, and after and in late medieval times when the dykes were made it became excellent land to grow crops too) I should take some pics of it!

 

interesting....I wanna say it was hans brinker that stuck his finger in the dyke but I think he was the skater....

Moved some scrap soil from the herb/flower garden out back but now the sun is beating down... time to switch gears and go do something completely different.

weird thing.....every time I put my gloves on the dog starts to get excited and tries to get me to play with him.....could he have caught on that the gloves means i'm working outside with him?*

I wear glasses all day long....they are supposed to darken in the sun but they don't work too well anymore...

Front yard is mowed... More poison ivy got sprayed before that... Shyt's everywhere.


Front patio should be nice and shady right now, time for a lemonade and a smoke. Garden designs give me a shady spot no matter what time of day... Most act as a breezeway too, and it's always breezy/windy here. House is being cooled by the basement "AC" at the moment. Holding 81 in the greatroom... 79 in the kitchen/mudroom area. (It's 89 out)
