some carbon monoxide scare and I was on the boat when it left the island early and we crossed in 13 minutes compared to 25 normal.........

they had 3 ambulances waiting on the city side...they unloaded us and loaded the ambulances and split back to the island...no cars were allowed on that trip..no passengers.....no one dead from what I hear but waiting for the details cause by then I was on the other side

Long day... Needs coffee.

 

picked up 2 nice mowers today for $20 each

1st one has a honda engine 7hp..very nice mower...guy says it quit when his wife went to use it and wouldnt start again...starts just fine for me after i turn the fuel on hopefully thats the only reason

2nd one worked "crappy" and hard to start,,,pretty sure the "crappy" part is due to the guy installing the blade upside down....hard to start is just a quick carb clean for that model

also did 3rd strut job of the week today

i really hate those jobs but at least 2 of them bought complete struts...todays job complete ones werent available so i had to do the whole spring compressing thing what a pain in the ass (and migraine)

im glad this week is done

the company has already sent a replacement for that other guys bad part...so i guess im doing at least one again next week

 

We're debating on hitting Chicago for the Sunday night GD shows. Depends on if we can get un-obscured tickets this late. Checking into it now. We wanted to hit all three shows but couldn't get tickets for face and I wasn't paying those super high prices for 3 tickets for each of the 3 nights.

Since I didn't get tickets...we cancelled our hotel reservations a few weeks ago so...if we go.....no idea where we will be staying but....that's ok. It will be like the good old days! We did that shit all the time back then. It will be ok. If nothing else, we'll head back to DeKalb and crash at the rest area.

 

Could stay with my mom or my brother but...nah. I'd rather just get in and out of town.

Well....looks like I'm going to Chicago tomorrow for the last show! Super stoked. I was there for Jerry's last show in 1995. I'll be there for the remaining members last show 20 years later!

It seems so fitting that we have no plan at all for this. Just rolling out in the morning and winging it.

Funny story......

When my wife and I first got together I had been going on tour for years. She was a fan of the music but had never toured. I don't remember how many shows her first run was but I think we were going to be on the road for a week or two. The day before we were about to leave, she wanted to know where we would be staying, what we would eat, why I wasn't packed yet, etc. Her mind was blown when I basically told her it would only take me a few minutes for me to pack and I didn't have answers for her other questions. I was like....eh...don't lose the money, don't lose the tickets and the rest will be ok. It was a completely different existence than she was used to but she ended up loving it and went to a shitload more shows with me over the years.


Edit to say.....as I was typing that, she booked a hotel room downtown. Typical responsible behavior from her.

I'll be happy with a nice recovery from stomach ailments this evening.
