This might sound like I should have known this years ago but the biggest change I've made in the last year or so is realizing that I should be playing sober. We've played lots of great sets while intoxicated. Loved every one of them. But we (I) have also played sets where things just never got to the next level because of beer (or other various substances). The hands just never got where they needed to be.

But now I'm sober every time I go on and it's much better. I can still bring a beer on stage but it's the first one of the night.

 

when i was a child, i used to chew on everything, pencils especially, pretending i was smoking, because of how cool, entertainment had portrayed doing so as being. but when i was in high school, and my peers started actually doing so, with the attitude, that there was something wrong with you if you did not, i'm sorry but that's where i dug my feet in, and said hell no.

 

Might have found two free push mowers... It's a Craig's list deal. I'll find out this afternoon.

Seen a guy that actually had made a solid frame for 8 mowers in an array. Similar but easier to maneuver.

people rarely come down my road on bikes but just now a group of 7 riders came down the road.....i knew right away because the dog started barking and took off like a bullet across the lawn.......some young girls.....2 of them.....i hold he dog until they are gone and another came by....then another.....7 people all riding seperately.....come on people.....close up the gaps will'ya?....poor dog was freaking out

 

One of those mowers actually runs, with some coaxing... 5.5HP Briggs, Craftsman bagger with a good bag too. Compost time. Carb needs gone through.


The other is old/old/old, but has a good old style deck. I think I can swap over all my existing parts to that deck. The 3.5hp Briggs that's on it can probably be made to run again too... Gonna build a leaf blower.



Free and only 7 miles away... Not bad. The guy was nice but you could tell from the place he's got a lot of money, or a lot of debt. He was tethered to his iPhone, probably watching the stock market.

 

So the song I was worried about the most is an original instrumental. It's remarkably similar to the Allman Bros. sound. Think...3 guitars playing the same leads in harmony to create one sound. Everyone has to be pretty spot-on with each for 4 minutes and 45 seconds or so. We spent time working on it during the last 3 times we've got together (and I have a recording of it that I've been trying to keep up with at home). I didn't feel like I was making a lot of progress on it very quickly. It's a lot of notes to remember.

Last night I said "Just play it and I'll write the music down as you go". That took a while but I told them they will be surprised how much faster I learn it this way. We did that and I got to work this evening. Took me about 20 minutes to figure it out and play it all. Bam! So stoked! Now I just have to play it until I can do it without thinking about it.

Sounds like it anyway. Although I've played the Wakarusa Music Fest before but it wasn't like everyone was there to see us. It was on one of the smaller stages. I don't really know how many people will be there for this though. Never been there. I was told it will be a 4 digit number instead of a 3 digit number. I'm not too worried about that part though. I just need to put the work into making sure I can do my job. The song I got down tonight goes a long way in that direction. I have a decent handle on the other originals and the GD covers don't bother me at all. I've already played those songs plenty of times.

 

Second mower runs great.... Found an old junk spark plug, I think it was out of the John Deere, cleaned some crud off and installed it without checking the gap. (motor had no plug it it when I got it) Put some gas in the tank, about 3 pulls and it purred. WTF?

 

Score!!

Now you need to find some kids to come over and use these mowers so you can take a break!

I seen the shatner on columbo. think hes an actor or something / hes a detective or something and thinks his character is smarter than columbo..
