The fire pit is coming along. I put in all the bricks I have. I need about a dozen more and the lava rocks for the bottom.

Fracking is destroying so much of this country's water supply. Humans are stupid. Over 700 chemicals forced into the earth causing mini-quakes and we get surprised when that toxic crap gets into drinking water.. aquifers.. ground water. Fracking waste water is used to irrigate farm fields in California. YUM!

That's one of the things I researched before we bought this land. No fracking anywhere near us. No shale formations, so there is never going to be fracking here.

Who cares.. let them drink rum! Oooh.. rum cake.. that sounds good.

This post brought to you by the letter 'F'... for fucking fracking

people need to realize where economic motivations come from and how we generate them. as long as people love their fossil fueled cars, there's a market for petroleum based fuels, any way they can be extracted, even no matter how expensive they become and even if the threat to all human life were direct and immediate. and its really not all that far, from being just that. i mean its really that simple. people want things two directly contradictory ways at the same time, and we just don't live in a universe that works that way. i mean fortunately we have other technologies, we can do things other ways then oil and the automobile. but if we want there to be a future for our species, that's something people are going to have to figure out, and understand what is important accordingly. coal people can figure out, because that's someone else they can point fingers at, but oil, the thing about that, is its all ourselves.

well i'm glad people have figured out that frakking is a really bad idea, and that long distance cross country oil piplines are too. but if they really want to salvage our own future as a species, they need to understand the otherwise really obvious connection, between a transportation policy that favors the automobile, and the demand oil.

There was a guy out in California that I used to take my chains to when I lived there. Same guy sharpened the chains for the local firefighters. I don't know what he did, neither did anybody else, but those chains lasted longer and cut better than anything I've ever seen. I can get a really good edge on a chain, but that guy did magic.

I finished the bricking on the inside of my fire pit today. I remembered where the previous occupant of my son's house had used some bricks in the yard. They were long hidden under the edge of a bush that had grown up. They match the bricks I had because the ones I had over here also came from that previous neighbor's stack. With the ones I pulled out from under the big bush, I had just the right number to finish lining the pit.

Tomorrow evening I will buy the lava rocks for the fire bed. I have some flat rocks, that years ago I brought home from our creek property in N.C. I want to lay them outside the rim of the fire pit but I'm not sure how far they will go. I'll play with that tomorrow afternoon.

I put out a call to my neighbors for spare bricks and one that is building a new house came through. She will drive her truck over tomorrow. I don't know how many she will have but I originally said I needed two dozen. Now, hubby will have some bricks to build his little rocket stove.

I watched my grandson play baseball tonight. His new team played a team he was on for the past several years. That made it alot of fun since I knew all the players on both teams. It got confusing at times but it was fun.
