It's still raining here. It turned cool last night so it seems slightly different but it's still rain.

I love this as it is what makes for a family memory. He will always remember around his birthday that you did this. :)

Aeri, that is hard, even after 12 years. I read you have done your sorting with it and picture is hung but hugs are good too. [IMG]

    That makes me happy!!!! :)

I'm mopping the kitchen floor. It's a big kitchen and I'm doing it in sections. I got a muscle spasm.

I've got one of those steam mops on my Christmas list.

I got some things done in my wood shop this afternoon/evening. I have a nice router table that is designed to be clamped on to a work bench. I don't have a big enough bench for that (yet) and I don't think I like the idea of clamping just the back edge of the table to a bench so I built a nice, sturdy stand for it today from some scrap plywood I had laying around. (See? There really isn't such a thing as scrap wood of you can use it for something else). So now I can set that router up on any table or bench. I messed around with that a bit.

Then I started building my shop stool. I'm in the process of designing my own custom shop bench. Still in the drawing process but I decided that I would build my stool to the height I want before deciding on the final height of the bench. I don't want the bench too high or too low. I'm building the stool out of Cedar so it smelled great out there from doing so much cutting. I can still smell it but that's probably the saw dust that's on me and in my nose (story of my life...really). I'm doing the top of the stool kind of like a cutting board so I got all of the top pieces cut, glued and clamped this evening. I got the legs cut but I didn't have enough larger clamps to glue them tonight. I was thinking I would glue the leg wood and then turn them on the lathe but I think I'll just round the edges with a router and keep as much wood there as I can. It doesn't have to look like I bought it at a store. I didn't even draw the stool out....just kind of have the picture in my head.

Anyway....that's probably boring for most of you guys but this is exactly why I wanted to get my own wood shop up and going. I can and do spend hours out there.

I don't know, man. $30 seems like a pretty decent amount to get from two pies. I have no idea how much it costs to make a pie though. :)

I've resorted to housework. You know I have cabin fever if I'm doing that.

    * PERSISTENT RAIN HAS ALREADY LED TO EXCESSIVE RAINFALL TOTALS
FROM 1 TO 3 PLUS INCHES IN MANY LOCATIONS SINCE FRIDAY. AN
APPROACHING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL INTERACT WITH ABUNDANT
MOISTURE TO PRODUCE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TOTALS OF 1 TO 4 INCHES
WITHIN THE WATCH AREA THROUGH MONDAY EVENING.

    * SATURATED SOILS WILL CAUSE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TO RUNOFF INTO
AREA CREEKS AND STREAMS WHICH WILL REACT TO RAINFALL MORE
QUICKLY THAN NORMAL DUE TO THE SATURATED GROUND. STORM DRAINS
IMPEDED BY FALLEN LEAVES MAY CONTRIBUTE TO LOCALIZED FLOODING
ISSUES. HIGHER RAINFALL RATES OVERNIGHT COULD ALSO LEAD TO
    ISOLATED AREAS OF FLASH FLOODING.

You should take up beer drinking on days like that. :)

I've actually cut back on my beer drinking by quite a bit lately. Didn't drink any beer at all last week or on Friday night. I had a few last night but I'm a pretty avid craft/micro/local beer fan so cutting back to one day a week is kind of a big statement for me. My wife was kind of baffled for a couple of days before she asked me why I was drinking orange juice in the evening. I told her I was just kind of getting burned out on drinking so much beer all the time. I love beer but it's almost to the point I was once at with smoking weed back in the day....I smoked pot every day for years and then I just got tired of it and quit. I won't quit drinking beer but I am happy about how great I feel when I'm not drinking as much.

I did go out to the wood shop a bit ago and got my stool legs clamped together. I forgot that I have some very large cast iron clamps. Those things are badass. I wish I had a few more of them.

profit on that is about half or thereabouts....that does not take into account my time...or the time I spent taking care of my apple trees...or making the crusts from scratch.....plus it kind of makes it look to this dude that I will jump for a few bucks......which I wont

he said he wants to ''bring some pie to old people''....so there is a charity angle but seriously man.......I cant justify the time right now....the nice days are dwindling and since I do 95 percent of the labour despite 3 adults here.....i'm just swamped....all 3 sisters want pies....my kid wants a pie....grandkids want pie.....and my own kid likes pie too

    .....I brought him a slice

Back until I was 30, I drank beer mostly every day. I'd get wrecked lots of days on some kind of alcohol. Then my doc put me on Prozac for bad PMS. I read that you shouldn't drink with it so I just stopped. With our family history of alcoholism and addiction, I know I was very fortunate to be able to just stop.

I was tired of it. I decided that I'd experienced every kind of drunkeness and every kind of hangover possible and I was done.

Now, I drink a few times a year. I drink as much as I feel the occasion calls for and then I'm done until another occasion.

Sometimes I might drink a small glass of wine at home but it's not really fun by myself so I only do that rarely.

Well....now that you put it like that....maybe the dude is only worth a single slice, a nod and a smile. Not worth going out of your way for.

You know how if you wash your car it will rain?

Well, I built a fire pit and it hasn't stopped raining.

Either you're a very talented carver with lots of time available to carve that stool out of a tree trunk, or do that in a 3D printer. Those are the only ways to conceive something like that.

yes...same dude from before spiff....the worse part is he has a son who is my age living here on the island....

....the fat neighbor says he ordered 15 spring lambs...live ones....no idea how he plans to care for them since he can barely walk with 2 canes....plus I was at his place yesterday and he has a walker on his deck that is all collapsed from the weight.....

I have a feeling the son is going to take over the dudes finances and put him in a home soon enough....he needs 24 hour help and hiring my brother to run into the general store isn't cutting it
