1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

    Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

    So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

    I used to have lots of nosebleeds when I was younger. Especially in the winter when it is so dry. I ended up getting the blood vessels in my nose cauterized (not the most comfortable procedure, but surprisingly not very painful). Since then I have not had a real nosebleed. Sometimes I get a bit with my allergies, but it isn't like it used to be where it seemed impossible to stop the flow.

    That's my gross (semi)random fact about myself.

    I have a tip;
    NEVER mess with old plumbing unless you have the time and $$$ to go all the way with it.
    it's kinda like pulling on that one loose thread on your sweater and before you know, it's half unraveled.

    may be easier in the long run to just replace the tub?

    Whew, I'll bet your relieved.
    There have been many times when I foolishly thought "Oh, that will only take about an hour..." only to spend days on something.
    It's a pain when the iron pipes are almost 60 years old and literally rusted frozen to one another.
    monkey wrench, torch, hammer and lots of anger and exertion is what it usually entails.

    yes...the caulk roll massively stretches if you tug on it.

    cold weather requires a bit of massage first

    did you remember to fill the tub with water and maybe some extra weight before you re-caulked it?
    I forgot once and within 2 weeks it was cracked and separated from the tile....DOH!
