I have had to climb A LOT of those locust trees over the years. It's a very tricky undertaking but it has to be done. I seem to find myself continually warning guys at work that they need to get better boots for when we're in the timber. Those thorns will go right through cheaper boots. I learned my lesson about 20 years ago when I was climbing across an old pile of logs and lumber and a long nail went through my sole of my boot and damn near came out of the top of my foot. It was maybe 3-4 weeks before I could walk normally again. Now I strictly wear Redwing boots with Vibram logger soles. Nothing goes through those.

    So, you've seen them...

    -------------------------------

So, anyways.... Mowing got cut short due to extreme lack of air in that tire. Was thinking about limbing that tree up when that fallen branch ripped the valve off. Scratch plan "A"

Plan "B" ... Install chains on the John Deere. Thing is, these are car chains. Wait... It gets better. Enter the box of NOS Sears chains I found last year at ReStore... $5. (collectors would have gone nuts over these on eBay... (Fuck that shyt) Sized to fit all these old size 14" tires like F78X14 which were scary narrow tires and only about 26-28" tall if I remember correctly. I remember driving on the damned things.... Anyways. The Deere tires are like 10 or 11 inches wide and 24"tall but 12" wheel. They sort'a fit actually, take up one link for fit and throw a bungee on each side for tension. They just cover the tread and down the sidewall a few inches. No slack. Still don't go anywhere without wheel weights though, but they helped. (as in pushing dirt with the plow blade.) So I tried to push stuff around in the backyard for about an hour... Key word. tried

Now I need a valve stem for the mower and the temps are going to go back down.

You know... To be able to manage this place properly I need a backup mower for my backup mower. (same goes for all the other equipment)

    i like my chains tight

i deflate the tires then put the chains on and use quick links wrench tight then inflate the tire so everything gets tight...had rubber bungees and chains clips come off snowblowers and make a hell of a mess so ive always preferred tight chains since that

Because these don't go very far across the sidewall I need something to cross the widest part. I'll probably go with a cable and spring tensioner or something. I should also add a row of chain between those that are there now... spacing is a little wide. Hey, they work and were 5 bucks.

    Need those weights though...

Technically, I didn't shave it. I just used my beard trimmer and got it as close as possible. Good enough for now. The dog still recognizes me. Still have the goatee though. I do this every year and then I'm a little surprised when I pass a mirror for a few days. Used to seeing a long beard but shaving it off makes me look about 5+ years younger.

I've been researching portable sawmills lately. I found one that was pretty sweet to replace the one I have. I went to price it...$53,000...base price!! They're fucking crazy! It's awesome but I wouldn't pay that much for it if they included a guy to run it everyday. I guess I'll just stick with what I already have for right now. I really don't even have any business looking at a new mill right now anyway. Wishful thinking. Too many other irons in the fire.

There has to be someone around who could weld that for pretty cheap. It doesn't look like a lot of welding.

i sleep with the closet doors open, because there's too much stuff to be able to close them.
there's only the one closet and the one room that i sleep and live in.
there's a bathroom and a kitchen that are part of the rest of the house.

and the people who live there are ok and wonderful in their own way
and have one interest in common with me
but i still really like, being most of the time by myself.

the reason i don't live with people more like myself,
is that like myself, they would mostly like being alone more.

the reason i don't currently live completely by myself
is because an apartment completely to myself
would cost a couple of hundred bux a month more
and when you've only got less then a thousand a month coming in
that eats a really big chunk of it.
and then, even with paying more, 2/3rds of the time
there would be more noise polution from the neighbors
then from my current house mates.

so i kind of hope i get to continue to stay,
until i can find a place, i would actually like better.

life though, is too fluctuating and diverse
to ever be able to count on anything.

Having a sawmill would just give me something else to worry about... I'm already on overload as it is.
