check engine light comes on when it notices a problem...its not a glitch

looks like mine is front wheel speed sensors which makes sense because my wheel bearings are really worn and loose

also intermittent canbus communications so ill have to check the main computer connections which are known to go back on these ....

there was another code for waiting timne exceded for instrument panel i have no idea what that code is for yet

Yes, I know, and sometimes that is useful, but yesterday Stan took the car to his nephew's, who is an excellent mechanic and is working on trains here now in a high position for the railroad....He used to be with Mercedes company... and he checked everything and said nothing was wrong with the car....and that it is a computer glitch.....so we will know for sure on Friday, I guess, when the company looks......

Had to have parts of the water system here replaced today. Everything is hitting us at once now....That was not cheap.....either.

    Ha. Ha. Very funny.

That has actually happened before, so this household is aware of that.....but after going to 2 auto shop places nearby and one nephew...and no one can figure it out here.......time to go to the car's maker. I 'll let you know on Friday.

Gas cap was checked by everyone.

dealers have better scan tools and get deeper into the modules so thats probably a good idea

there should still be some kind of code though that any generic reader could access

So here is how I understand the check engine light problem today.
They had to run a diagnostic test on it, and even they did not understand the problem, so they called into the main place where to know where to look.
The right front axle near the tire is rusted and corroded out, so it is not reading the sensor, the car will nead a new axle and brake job...just under 2k....
After Stan talks to his nephew, and finds out more, I guess he will bring the car back next week for the job, which will take a whole day....and they will give him a loaner car that day.

This is our main car....which we bought new in 2009....and it's mileage life is not even half over yet. I love this car.

can only be the sensor or the reluctor ring by what you describe

mine does weird things when they crack but i can buy just the ring

i thought you had a regal or park avenue...reluctor ring on those models are usually inside the wheel bearing where it cant get damaged unless the bearing fails

Yes, that is the animal car bought 2nd hand....and that is fine and used only for short distances....every day with dogs....Stan's baseball stuff here and there.....ect.

    This is a Kia.

I will relay what you just said here to Stan to tell his nephew when he calls him back at 3 today, as his nephew had no idea what Stan was talking about.........he said..."That makes no sense..."

I did not go. Stan was stuck there for 2.5 hours today in a not air conditioned room. Poor guy. I had a hard time trying to understand...He has the paper with what they wrote. he does that....which is why I have to go to important doctor meetings to get it.....sometimes.

I know that you are brilliant with these things. it is a shame that you do not live closer.

This Kia cost us 15k at the time...promotional deals and everything under the sun......It was a 25k car......and bigger than most kia's that our own the road now.....but it is not luxury inside or anything...but I always trusted and loved this car.

The nephew will probably know what to do when he understands exactly what it is he needs to do....I was being nice in what I said to you....is all.

but...may not be a job for the nephew, because from what I also understand....you need Kia parts from the company, too. I am no mechanic with cars.....so something is probably getting lost in any translation here, as well.

should be able to get almost anything for a kia from any parts place ...

except for things like ecm or individual transmission internal parts

Yeah, there is that. I know people jack up prices and things, sometimes....so I did tell Stan to shop around for other estimates first.

Stan's nephew said ..."It sounds like they are milking you..."
he also said to bring the car over on Monday after Stan's baseball game, and he will take another look. That is a day he has off.

he also said..."Well, sounds like you need a new car".

    and to that I say....

    NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!

if it drives fine just keep driving it

engine light is orange...ignorable unless it flashes

the red lights are the ones that make it unsafe..like brakes is always red but abs is yelloe or orange because when abs buggers up it reverts to regular brakes and is still safe

I agree until inspection time comes around, as a car will not pass with that on.....

Same problem with another car we had once.....light had to be off......$ poored into the car....and the light came coming back on...got away with passing it for inspection for about 2 years....as someone knew how to get that off, but after that...there was no getting that to stay off......even though the car still drove fine.

On another note, I cannot believe that 2017 is half over, and the second half of the year starts tomorrow.....and it is raining here....Supposed to stop around 6...good...just in time for the dogs.....Muggy as hell out there and in the 90's. I hate this air quality.....and I have bites all over me from yesterday's run from some insect....felt like they were burrowing in. Where is the snow? :D
