Problem with all the late 70's and 80's cars in general was smog regulations... A late 60's early 70's muscle car was an experience... the later look alike models were just cars with stripes and a wing or two.

I think maybe his was a 1978. It looked incredible and it had some really beefed up engine.....it was sweet. Too bad he was a total douche and that car made him even more of a douche. I bet I haven't talked to him in nearly 20 years.

I have an estimate to do tomorrow. It's for a lady who sounds very old. A fellow arborist (and friend) doesn't have time to take the job so he passed it to me. She told me on the phone to please forgive her for being slow moving and hard of hearing. I told my wife about it earlier and said "So....basically....that job will probably be a wash". My wife is well aware of this habit of mine.

That doesn't even bother me though. I love those old ladies and I think they like me just fine as well. I give them so much free shit that it sometimes irritates my employees. But that isn't the only thing....I love talking to older people and listening to their stories, hearing about their life experiences, etc.....especially the really spunky old ladies. My wife will be one of those ladies one day and I might be dead by then so I hope there are people who are willing to treat her the way I treat older people now. :)

The Really Old people I know, such as my mother and the lady Wiz is talking about, do not have fancy cars. Not a single solitary one! If by "fancy" house, you mean one they have tried to keep up and the house itself is not new but maintained, then I know people like that.

The only people I've ever known that want and rather expect dirt cheap work done are middle aged (40's) people to my age that have PLENTY of money.

OLD people are subject to ask if they can make payments for a while if they can't handle it all at once.

Oh man. Not every older person has an fancy house or a fancy car.....obviously. Most around here don't have those things. Most of them aren't asking to be treated differently but everyone should expect to be treated well. That's one of my very simple "secrets" of why I kick everyone else's ass around here and only take the jobs I want. I'm a perfectionist with a big heart. How can you beat that?

I saw new guys working in town recently. They trimmed many mature trees at a nearby apartment complex and they also removed a few. I decided to drive by on my way home just to check out their work. Now I've seen a lot of sloppy work and I've been paid to fix and/or improve countless trees....literally thousands of trees. I realize there are differing levels of skill and I acknowledge my sometimes obsessive perfectionism about trimming technique.

All of that said, this work is so stunningly awful that I can't even fathom how it was allowed to happen. It's possibly the worst that I've ever seen in nearly 2 1/2 decades of doing this. It's so bad that I may go take pictures and ask the city to investigate whether this was a licensed company. Private property or not.....it's so bad that I would call it a blight on the neighborhood. I even told my wife that if I was offered $10k to fix them all.....I'd have to tell them that I just can't fix them now. I could fix a few bad cuts but most of it too far gone.

On that note.....the lady who got an estimate from me today is going to have three trees elevated, I will do the trimming myself and it will be badass and the whole job will cost her $100. And I carried her groceries in the house for her. She was really, really old.

Finally got rain today/all day. Some stuff was already going into "drought mode".... even big trees. We didn't get much snow melt last winter, then hot and dry. I needed this rain.

Now, come three days from now some of the grass will be up to my knees, but that's another story...
