They're killing you. I quit a year and a half ago, feels good. Everyone has to quit when it's their time though. I just woke up one day and didn't want to do it anymore. My ex's grandfather woke up one day in his 80's and quit then.

Yes, they really are killing you slowly but surely....My dad died at age 54 of lung cancer from smoking. They gave him cigs while he was in ww2 to help calm them down, needless to say, several million GI's came home with a brand new habit...;-(

 

how did you stay away from them if you don't mind me asking ?????

 

Simple, I quit buying them.


It really is so much easier than people make it sound. At least for me it was. I one day just equated smoking with a shitty life and a lack of self respect so I quit doing it. Every once in awhile I want one, but I just think about those pictures of horrible looking lungs and blackened mouths. That stuff is real.

Last year I got to see and touch the lungs of a person who had smoked for 30-40 years. Parts were hard as rock, and when they were pumped full of air (foot pump) there were parts that didn't even move (absorb air). It was horrible.

When you think of all the people out there who are involuntarily suffering from various forms of cancer it really is terrible. And here's smokers walking around smoking in everyone's faces voluntarily. Watch sombody die from a diesease that was caused by their own bad habits and their inability to control them. You'll be quitting real soon.

I can now smell dish soap, fresh fruit, food, etc, from the next room or down the hall. I don't stink, I don't have a horrible taste in my mouth, I don't cough, etc. Ever kissed a girl who tasted like cigarettes or whose hair smelled like smoke? It's disgusting.

I smoke a cigar once every few months, but that's it.

My grandfather died of lung cancer a couple years ago.

 

Ruthy ...Nyxx and CrankyIrishGirl (and maybe more that I forget at the moment) are smokers..

I've been very lazy lately. After my birthday I'm getting back to using the gym everyday.

I have one girl on the running team so far and she was crying today after the workout. I really hope she doesn't quit.
