I went and spent a night at the cottage with my dad, which means I spent ALL night with him, which isn't something I usually do. I guess I just really got to witness the extent of his alcoholism. Obviously it was very sad to witness, because he is a good man, but it was like looking in to the future in a way. I'm 29 right now, so people still just say I ''like to party'', but the cold hard truth is if I don't change my habits, this is what my future is going to be like.

My dad's dad was an alcoholic, my dad is an alcoholic, and I'm well on my way to becoming one if I don't change my habits.

I plan to try and get my drinking to a reasonable level (I am not sure exactly what that means yet), and if I can't find a balance, in 2016 I will quit completely and potentially seek help.

It's not a problem right now, but I just figure I need to nip this in the bud before I become my father (and grandfather).

I went to an awesome party last night. Had a great time with great friends. It was just those of us who always hang out together at first but around 11:00 a bunch of people from down the street (not strangers) kind of crashed it. It was all fine and fun but I think our original group would have preferred it just being us last night.

I grew up with several alcoholics and was married for 11 years to an alcoholic. I know it is miserable to live with and it never interested me. i don't think you need to change your habits because you haven't developed that many yet but you can change your mind about your future potentials

That's what I mean by nipping it in the bud. Changing habits before they become addictions.

Probably had nothing to do with me. They just showed up...like...a bunch of them. But it wasn't my house so....the more, the merrier, I guess. I still had a good time. One of the people happened to be my sons first grade teacher. That was interesting.

RF: I've been taking a lot of time off work in the last two weeks. I should probably go tomorrow. I just love being at home and the holidays are a great excuse to chill out. But tomorrow kind of feels like it should be a Monday but it isn't. I guess that's all the more reason to go....so the weekend feels like a weekend. Then...back to normal after that.

I have enjoyed winter break a little too much. I need to get some things organized before I go back to work on Monday.

remember that one time you got in a fight with your wife because she was having a good time at a party and you wanted to leave?

If I didn't know any better I'd be starting to think you are a miserable old party pooper wiz!
