Didn't get any snow here, but it was cold today. I'm so ready for spring...

My grandkids and I have been sick...Feeling a little better today.

then some idiot city employee down south didnt do his monitoring job and a bunch of people died so they made laws forcing all municipalities to start pumping chlorine into to it...

I don't even know why you guys are debating water. The local water in my area is perfect for brewing beer. I mean...I drink lots of water but I also am willing to pay to see the water turned into something much better. So technically, when I hit the brewery, I'm supporting the local enhanced water industry. You can't really go wrong with that theory, can you?

 

Good to see you Country. Our snow storm did not happen either but there is still a lot of ice out there and we are well below freezing. Not to worry, they are predicting more snow later this week.

 

Its now 5am here (went to sleep not long after work), and it's so cold here at the computer (where there is a window behind the computer I face) I have on a thick sweater over the long sleeved top I wore to bed. BB (cat) is sitting on my lap but she is just a little mean thing and doesn't provide much warmth.

I'm fixing to make some firecrackers. Maybe I'll actually do something on my day off (today) with firecracker motivation...maybe not. lol There is always that chance.

Specs, I hope everything works out well with your dad. I'm glad he admits to having pain...in that he doesn't just suffer and not let anybody know. Mama will relate something about her sciatica bothering her maybe 2 seconds before one of us is about to go to bed. Then when I try to address it later, she will either act like she doesn't know what I'm talking about - which I can tell she does - but is "fibbing" (lying) or will say "oh that was nothing". mercysakes

I told her she DOES NOT NEED TO DRIVE. I may as well have pissed in the wind. Right now I'm hoping her car dies from the lack of her keeping an adequate level of fluids in the radiator.

 

well below zero f here this morning.......I bailed for the second day running on going on a short road trip to my sisters.....just wasn't feeling it this morning

He told me four days after being in pain that that was the case. We went to the doctor on Thursday morning and Saturday morning he called 911. He also runs out of assorted medications and tells us days later that he has not had whatever in several days. He still lives alone. He needs more help than I can give even though I only live a few minutes drive away.

Captain is such a beautiful dog. His face looks like he wants you to come out and play.

We lucked out as this one went around us. A few flurries and cold but not bad at all.

If that ground hog is wrong and we do not have an early spring I am going to shoot the bugger.

 

My oldest granddaughter, 11, is misleading the school and they are both about to piss me off.

My d-i-l feels sorry for her because she has triplet little sisters. Her mom thinks she feels jealous of them.

Anyway, it seems she got caught passing a note in class yesterday. Supposedly, the note was from another girl asking my granddaughter if she'd ever "cut" herself. From what I understand, my granddaughter claimed that she had in the past.

The teacher collected the note and the counseling office had her come in. Supposedly, she showed the counselor a tiny scar that was a few years old and told them she didn't do it now.

The counseling office called my d-i-l at work and told her that her daughter needed to be put on suicide watch.

Today, the counseling office called my granddaughter back into the office and asked her why she cuts herself and what's wrong. Supposedly, she kept telling them that nothing was wrong. The kept prodding her until she told them that her dad drinks and that he is mean when he drinks. I hope they prodded her enough for her to tell them that by "mean", they mean that he yells at her sometimes, and nothing more.

Apparently, they suggested family counseling and asked her if she wanted to discuss it with her mother or if they should call her mother again. She said she told them that she'd discuss it with her mother and they said that she would be called out of class again tomorrow to see what her mother said about the family counseling.

This is crazy.

I sincerely doubt that the child even cut the 1/4 inch scar into her arm that she claims she did. I think when the other girl wrote asking her if she ever had, she felt like she had to say she had in order to look "cool".

Damn it. I'm steamed about this.

 

We had that major storm over the weekend and my business plays a very substantial (possibly even the most important) role in preventing storm-related power outages. Got the word this morning...zero power outages in our entire service area this weekend. We're on a good roll right now. I think it's been a few years now since we had any more than just minor outages. Yeah for the home team!

On a related note, I was on a job site with my son this morning. It was maybe 6 or 7 degrees out and I decided to go up in the air for about 30 minutes to do something. He worked on the ground. I got done and got in my truck. He jumped in to get his hands and feet warm and said "Are you even cold?" I said "Eh...maybe a little bit. Not too bad." He said "Man....I feel like SUCH a wuss right now!!" He was freezing his ass off and not feeling like much of a team member. He's gotta get tough. He'll get there.

 

Holy shit!! I would have some choice words for those people at the school. I'd talk to the grand daughter too but the school and I would be having a discussion.

 

I don't know if the daughter and mother have told my son about it.

The mother and/or my son need to go into the school and tell them to stop fanning non-existent flames just because they are bored with their jobs.

 

Some schools are good at that. They make a mountain out of a mole hill. My ex-wife used to try to involve the school whenever she could to blow up minor things. It never worked out in her favor.

 

I was just down in the basement a bit ago looking through some boxes with my son for some albums I wanted to give him. I didn't find the albums but I did find a pot pipe I used to use all the time. Luckily, he is well aware of my history. It was a hand-made Ebony pipe that a friend got for me on a trip to India. I also have a matching Rosewood pipe. I've been wondering where the hell the Ebony one was for years. Now I have both of them again and I don't usually even smoke anymore. But at least I have them for my collection. My son thought it was pretty cool. I was like....dude...I used to use this pipe all the time when you where maybe 4 or 5 years old. It's still pristine...except for maybe a dirty bowl.

 

Dad was transferred from the hospital to the nursing home/rehab yesterday afternoon. Today I have to go to his condo to pick up all kinds of things that he needs.
