The thieves will probably sell the gear for pennies on the dollar. That is awful, man. My sons band has been lucky that way---so far. They bought an enclosed trailer and put a
super lock on it. Well, hope the insurance takes care of it.

dude...google is full of bands that had gear ripped off in st Louis

one example from 16th October...my spacing for reading ease to old people haha

    Dear St. Louis,

First off, we truly love your city and people and a big thank you for such a wonderful crowd last night. You are one of the most supportive cities we’ve had the pleasure of playing. Unfortunately, yet again our van was broken into, with personal belongings stolen. Our gear was in the venue so it was safe, but nonetheless this needs to be addressed and more importantly stopped.

As we said you are some of the most supportive fans and in these circumstances the great people we have met have given us the most selfless help. We really hope to be able to continue playing to you, but your city has become notorious among bands as a place where shit gets jacked.

After our van was stolen this summer out of a gated lot, within the following weeks it seemed unavoidable hearing about the number of similar incidents bands suffered from. We want nothing more than to keep coming here, but the risks posed to our gear is something no touring independent band can afford.

This needs awareness and attention. It’s not fair to you if bands begin to drive past your city on tours for the sake of their safety, but this will happen soon, we are sure, of it if something doesn’t change. St. Louis has had plenty of attention with the issues it faces, and we understand that poverty, crime and police brutality are broad, complex problems that are difficult to overcome. Your people must say something, stand up for this change in order for St. Louis to be a place that is loved, not feared.

    With love,

    The Districts

I'm under the impression that the trailer was locked but the thieves pried the door open and took whatever could fit through the hole. I guess they must have figured something out though because they are playing Omaha tonight.

Just watched a documentary about Burt Shavitz...the co-founder of Burt's Bees. What an interesting guy! A old hippie who never wanted money or fame. He just wanted to live minimally and happily. He was kind of screwed out of the big money by his co-founder but he is doing fine financially. He has no real use for money anyway. He still lives on his acreage with no electricity or hot water. He sold his last tv in the 60's and still splits wood for heat. The guy obviously loves his life and is very wise...even though he doesn't seem to comprehend or care why he is so famous. It isn't a part of his value structure. He still gets paid by the company for appearances but would rather just be at home.

the human species, is only mine, in the sense that i live in a body of this form. and that only in this life. it has nothing else to do, with my own true identity.

that doesn't mean i think i'm a cat either. cat, like human, is only a name for the shape of a body, none of which has anything to do, with what anyone is.
