RF: I really wish I could spend a couple weeks with a really good plastering guy so I c an pick up a few tips. I can do pretty much every trade, including plastering, but jesus do I ever suck at it. I end up getting a good result, but what a good plasterer will do in 3 coats, I will do in 17. UGH. I changed my patio door this weekend and now I'm doing a few touch ups, thought it would take me 15-20 minutes but I'm going on an hour now. It truly is an art form.

 

Started the snow blower today to make sure it is running before we need it. Thankfully it is running well and now it can snow if it really has to.

 

I'll probably get snowed in a few times this winter...

 

In the city that rarely happens but when we were in the country it happened enough to prepare ahead when we knew a storm was coming in.

Kids did miss the snow days off from school when we moved here.

It was pretty windy here too. Kind of a biting cold in the wind but not too bad if you could stay out of the wind.

Hey!....leave all those branches down for traction on the tractor! Brilliant idea and you can have an excuse to not pick up the branches for a while.

 

Some of them are 6" around or better... mite big for traction.

 

Geez! That was some kind of wind, huh? I assumed it was all just smaller stuff.

my radio says running a bagel under water for 30 seconds [unsliced] and then in the oven for 5 @ 350' will supposedly make said bagelmore delicous

 

It would probably make it more like a freshly made bagel...

what is everyone up to for thanksgiving?.....heard a recipe for raw cranberries cooked ithcarmalized onions,brown sugar and prange juice.....sounded really interesting

Dinner with Dad and Sister.... restaurant food bought the day before and heated. Nobody related is actually cooking a turkey.


It's usually very good.

 

Having dinner at home with my wife, daughter, youngest son and a friend. Then going to visit my grandpa on Saturday to take him out for dinner. We don't have very many family members around here and it's too bad because my wife is an outstanding chef and it's a shame that more people don't come over to share the dinner with us. I was planning on going to Denver to spend the holiday with our oldest son and our family out there but...change in plans.

 

It'll just be the 3 of us...Mama, my son and me. She cooks (yes, I'm using that word somewhat loosely) a small version of a "traditional" Thanksgiving dinner. I want to help...I WOULD help, but she won't let me...says she knows where everything is and she doesn't need me since it "messes" her up.

Long time ago I worked at a bagel shop and the recommended way to "refresh" bagels was to wet a brown paper bag (like a lunch bag), put the bagel (s) inside and put that in the hot oven. When the paper bag is dry, remove from oven and the bagels inside will be fresh and softer.

I am picking the meals up this morning and taking them over to Dad's.


Random fact is I turned 64 today, starting into year 65. Never thought I would live this long.
