im just a light sleeper..a car driving by wakes me up

I use earplugs sometimes and that help but its hard to get over the claustrophobic/paranoia feeling that they give me when they're in

No, I just think too much. It's hard to turn my mind off. Last week I woke up in the middle of the night talking to myself about the same conversation I was having in my head while waiting to fall asleep. It was as though the conversation had just continued on with myself while I slept. It was really bizarre.

That and I'm a light sleeper as well.

I have been waiting for a call for two days, they just ring and I can't find my phone in time and I can't ring them back. Why can't they leave a message or send an email?! It's so annoying.

Songs being played by a full band in my Head wake me up at night, so I run and grab the geetar and try to copy the song down before it disappears forever. I just wonder where it comes from?....;-)

That's too bad and sad for both of you. This is the one department I have excelled in my entire life-Sleeping.

But if there are any guys/girls out there that are heavy snorers-especially the stop breathing kind of snorer (apnea)-go to a sleep study-you won't be disappointed. Your partners may laugh at you, but they will praise the CPAP in short order.

If you are on your own, and think you are a big snorer (always wake up with sore throat), it doesn't hurt to get checked out.

End on knowledge on sleep apnea.

That's where your focus is, so your subconscious is helping you out.

When I was really into writing poetry a few years back, a poem started coming to me as I was just falling asleep. I had to get up and write it down. It just kinda flowed out of me. The next day I did a little work on it, but it was pretty good just as it was. It's still one of the best poems I've ever written.

I wouldn't sleep very well if I didn't keep a small wind machine on my bed to drown out all other noise.

Both - or better yet, use vodka. My motto for child-rearing: Vodka vorks vonders. Duct tape also helps. Oooops - I didn't say that, I am not here... :D

Drugs help... so does having a tv, radio or music in the background (white noise doesn't work for everyone). Having the tv or radio has its own issues though and actually leads towards waking up every hour.

More then anything though, I think you will find you (as in you personally) that to find peace, you are going to have to change your circumstances to where your mind doesnt have to try so hard to make you realize that your choices so far are leading it down a path it doesnt want to go.

Of course, thats just a guess... how could I really know what goes on in your mind... lol

Why have you said nothing about this until now? You must know of my love of poetry by now.

And you were holding out :toetap05:

You have one of those microwave machines don't you?

That's exactly what it is. My mind is very receptive and doesn't haste to confront me about things, subconsciously and consciously. It's odd how our conscious actions can almost imprison the part of us/our mind that knows better.

There was a Twilight Zone episode about that once called 'Nervous man in a four dollar room'. This guy owed money and had been a nervous, sort of loser-ish (I don't like that term) guy his whole life and he hides from the money shark guy in this hotel room. Rather than go out and get the money he talks to himself in the mirror, calling himself a loser and that he's too chicken-shit to fix his life. Then the reflection in the mirror becomes the other side of his mind and talks back at him. It tells him that it's been dying to get out, meet a woman and live life, but it can't get out because the man's nervous self won't let him. So after awhile of talking to his other half in the mirror the man goes nuts, smashes the mirror and the loan shark shows up. The nervous man ends up beating up the loan shark telling him to get lost. At the end of the episode it's revealed that the confident, aspiring half of the guy got out when the mirror smashed and the nervous side of him is shown as a reflection, stuck inside the mirror.

If I could afford to increase my use of cannabis I would.
