I had this engine.... very quiet, heavy metal trucks, realistic body https://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/920-48419 this was like a train in my own backyard.
https://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/6-24137 most others are gmdsd 40's . I had a few working engines of this type.. Only thing I saved was my F7 streamliners and two other cars after the flood of 96. they are in my china cabinet ..
some other stuff I could probably find might take a while..
the best I had was a coal car collection I got at this flea market. I had around 100 pieces of # stock.
coolest thing on my layout was this barrel fire with the red lighting it up , two men putting wood in it. my train was really cool and relaxing, even tho only a few corners had houses and stuff the rest was bare track with the train going off to oblivion for 22 ft.. took a while for it to come back if you had the power set to real time... neat controller I had made realistic braking and speed. it was the shit when I was stoned in my teens and 20s..

Hot shower that lasted as long as I wanted... not as long as the water was still warm. Awesome!

Wood furnace is holding the main house at 75F without trying... Whole house could be that temp with ductwork installed and use the same amount of wood.

    finally got my car running

hopefully the warmup was good enough to unstick the rings

had to yank glow plugs and shoot in some oil to get the compression up for starting..plus some ether...first time it runs in almost 2 years

cant decide to keep for summer use or sell it...but either way ill have to wait to spring because no ones buys microcars in winter..at least it doesnt take up much room...

just had my car in to have my tires swapped and to get an oil change, and they informed me that my battery is starting to die.

the last few days have been pretty cold and I've noticed that is isn't starting as smoothly as last year, so I'm worried that it won't cut it later in the winter when we get down to -20 or -30.

advice? should I just replace it now, or wait and see?

if i replace it, any tips on buying a new battery? should i just go for the cheapest one I can find?

the car is 6.5 years old with ~170,000km and this is the original battery, so if I have to shell out a few dollars I won't be too upset by it.

do not buy a cheap battery....huge mistake......buy a top of the line one with a tough name like ''frostkiller'' or ''ice monster''....the difference is minimal in cash.....you can get a cheapy for 79 dollars or buy a better one with a proper warranty for120ish.......sears has a great warranty on their ''diehard''...

i too may need a battery soon......might even get a block hjeater for this season\\bbad.....is it difficult to install a block heater on my 98 6cyl honda?

The last time I was told that my battery was going, and it was Fall, I got it replaced right then and there. Not taking any chances with the car not running in the winter. I am sure that others can recommend kinds. I got a good one.

I thought about a block heater last year but didn't bother and my car started just fine even in -30 weather, so I don't know if it is worth it. If it were an option on a new car I would probably get one though.

I won't buy anything from sears... I have a personal grudge against them because they defrauded my father's business out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, and then ended up settling the lawsuit for basically nothing. my dad had no choice because sears has the resources to draw the lawsuit out for years, and he didn't want to take the risk that they would be bankrupt by then (seems like he made the right choice - I doubt they'll last another year).
